“DP and Reclor” and “Ports” Saudi Arabia launching the new container station in Jeddah


Dubai Ports World Group (DPDDRED) and the Saudi Ports Authority (Ports) revealed the new and advanced southern container station in Jeddah Islamic Port, which represents a milestone in the expansion and development program implemented by Dubai World Ports with an investment of 800 million dollars to modernize the station, and contribute to strengthening Saudi Arabia as a pioneering global commercial center.

This project, which took three years, transformed the southern container station into one of the most advanced and sustainable container stations in the region, while increasing the absorptive capacity by more than 1.8 million standard containers to four million stereotypes.

A statement issued yesterday said that this expansion paves the way for a future capacity of five million stereotypes, with the deployment of additional ships handling equipment according to the growth growth.

Since Jeddah, in 1999, it became the first external station for the Dubai Ports Group outside the UAE, and it plays a pivotal role in supporting regional trade. The recent expansion, which is carried out under a 30 -year -old construction, operation and transfer agreement, confirms the position of Jeddah as a strategic commercial gate, and supports the goals of the “Saudi Vision 2030” in promoting commercial linking and economic diversification.

An official ceremony was held on the occasion of the opening, in the presence of the Minister of Transport and Logistics and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Ports Authority, Saleh bin Nasser Al -Jasser, Chairman of the Board of Directors, CEO of Dubai Ports World Group (DPDDRID), Sultan Ahmed bin Sili, and CEO DP World, the Gulf Cooperation Council states, Abdullah bin Damithan, and other senior representatives of the Dubai World Ports Group, and “Ports”.

“This expansion reflects our 25 -year heritage in Jeddah, and enhances our commitment to push the growth of trade in the region, and through this advanced station, we are working to improve efficiency and enhance the flexibility of supply chains and provide new trade opportunities for the Kingdom and abroad for future decades.”

The development of the station includes the inclusion of advanced automation and digitization systems to improve operational efficiency, as smart systems will significantly reduce the time of gate transactions, from two minutes to only 10 seconds, with the support of tracking of goods dependent on the Internet of Things and automatic inventory -backed inventory for accurate registration of the goods.

In addition, electric powered automatic cranes were introduced, and the fleet of bridge cranes from 14 to 17 crane was expanded by the end of 2025, reaching 22 with the station’s expansion to five million stereotypes.

. Raising the capacity of the station from 1.8 million to 4 million containers, with the goal of reaching 5 million containers.
