The Dubai Chamber of Commerce organized a virtual symposium on the preparation of sustainability reports, with the aim of highlighting the importance of these reports in enhancing transparency in environmental and social sustainability standards and governance (ESG) for investors, consumers and regulators.
In the presence of 147 participants from representatives of private sector companies, the symposium organized by the Business Ethics Center of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce discussed the role of sustainability reports as a major tool that allows companies to prove their performance related to environmental and social sustainability standards and governance in conjunction with risk management and interaction with all partners. Participants in the symposium met the importance of the role of effective reports in enabling companies to achieve sustainable value and maintain their competitiveness in an organizational environment and fast -changing markets.
The symposium discussed the goals and standards of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce brand in the standards of environmental and social sustainability and governance (ESG) launched by the Business Ethics Center last year, with the aim of helping companies and institutions to assess their readiness, the level of maturity of its adoption of these standards, in addition to estimating their efforts in this field in a way that enhances sustainable growth.
The symposium witnessed a presentation of a demonstration by the United Nations Global Charter- the Emirates Branch on the principles of the charter and the framework of its reports preparation, in addition to some valuable visions on harmonizing commercial operations with global sustainability standards. The attendees also discussed a case study from the “Trans World” group on adopting the standards of the Global Initiative to Prepare Reports (GRI) in preparing a comprehensive sustainability report, which provided the attendees practical strategies and realistic examples of successful sustainability reports.
