Dubai International continues to lead as the largest air transport hub in the world


The scheduled seat capacity on international flights at Dubai International Airport, the largest air transport hub in the world, exceeded the barrier of five million seats (10 million in both directions) this November, according to OAG, an international organization that provides data for airports and airlines.

She stated that the total seat capacity at London Heathrow Airport reached 3.8 million seats, noting that Singapore Airport came in third place with about 3.49 million seats, followed by Seoul Airport in fourth place on the list of largest airports with about 3.45 million seats, followed by “Amsterdam.” In fifth place with about three million scheduled seats.

The Corporation confirmed that Dubai International Airport continued its strong performance, ranking second in the world in total seat capacity on both “international and domestic” flights, after the American “Hartsfield Atlanta” Airport, which recorded 5.1 million scheduled seats during this November. While Tokyo Airport in Japan recorded about 4.5 million seats on international and domestic flights, ranking third, followed by London Heathrow Airport in fourth place with more than 4.1 million seats, then Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport came in fifth with about 4.1 million seats.

The corporation’s data indicated the strong performance of Dubai Airport compared to the largest airports in the world, indicating that the difference in the total seat capacity (on international and local flights) between “Hartsfield Atlanta” and “Dubai International” amounts to only about 97 thousand seats.

Dubai International maintained its position as the largest airport in the world in terms of the number of international passengers for the tenth year in a row, during the year 2023, as the airport consolidated its gains last year to rise to second place in the world in the total number of international and local passengers combined, for the first time in its history.

Dubai International Airport received 44.9 million passengers during the first half of this year, an increase of 8% compared to the same period last year.
