The Ministry of Education decided to oblige students who received a rating from “C” to “F” in the Arabic language and mathematics subjects, in the final result of the academic year, to go through a qualifying program, with the student being promoted to the highest grade.

The Ministry’s decision sparked dissatisfaction with parents of students who obtained a “C”, as the decision equates these students, whose evaluation is considered good, with students with a weak educational level who obtain a “D”, “E”, and “F”.

While it was not possible to obtain a response from the Ministry regarding the reasons for including students who obtained a “C” with their counterparts who were lower than them in the academic level.

The students’ certificates included an explanation of each of the letters with which the Ministry evaluated the students in the academic subjects. The letter “A” indicates that the student obtained a grade between 90 and 100, “B” indicates the student’s grade between 80 and 89, and “C” indicates that the student obtained a grade between 80 and 89. This means that the score is between 70 and 79, “D” indicates that the score is between 60 and 69, “E” indicates that the score is between 50 and 59, and “F” indicates that the score is between zero. And 49.99.

The father of a third-grade student, Saif Abdullah, said: “My son received a rating of (A) in all subjects except mathematics, in which he received a rating of (C), which indicates that he is good in mathematics and excellent in the rest of the subjects. We were surprised by a warning in the grades certificate stating that The student who obtained a C in the Arabic language or mathematics will undergo a rehabilitation program, and this affects the student psychologically, as he is outstanding, and yet the Ministry equates him with the accepted, weak, or failing student.

The mother of a second-grade student, Hessa Ahmed, called on the ministry to support the students psychologically by enhancing their excellence, noting that combining students with a “C” rating, which means their grades are between 70 and 79, and students with grades less than 60, It does not achieve motivation among outstanding students, because the program equates them with those who fail due to their low grades in one or two subjects.

She added that the program decided by the Ministry exhausts the student, whether the outstanding or the weak, because he will undergo it at the beginning of the next academic year, and thus the burden of study will increase on him, calling on the Ministry to reconsider its curricula and reduce them for students, and increase the research skills aspect in the scheduled lessons, which provides the student with ways to For self-learning through searching for information.

A student’s mother, Alia Baayayad, also called on the Ministry of Education to reconsider the three-semester system, which resulted in a longer school year until July, and this led to a reduction in the duration of summer vacation, expecting that the three-semester system would not provide sufficient opportunity to take re-examinations for students. Those who did not succeed in one or two subjects, and therefore the Ministry decided the “Empowerment” program for students who failed in three subjects or less, to help them and empower them with the skills necessary to pass these subjects.

Smart learning portal

The Ministry of Education has confirmed that the “Tamkeen” program will be available electronically to students of public and private schools that implement the ministerial curriculum, starting from mid-July until the first week of school, through the smart learning portal to help failed students and enable them to acquire the necessary skills to pass the retake exam, in 10 subjects: Islamic education, Arabic and English languages, mathematics, science, chemistry, physics, biology, social studies and health sciences, for grades four to eleven in all tracks (general and advanced). (specialized and elite) and students who are absent for the entire academic year due to a health condition or being outside the country for treatment.

If students do not achieve a passing grade for one or more subjects, the student will remain in the same grade. The Ministry is currently working on preparing a guide explaining to students how to use the system to facilitate their education and making it available on the Ministry’s website.
