Emirates launches Crypto.com Pay in UAE to expand digital payment options

Emirates launches Crypto.com Pay for UAE bookings

Emirates launches Crypto.com Pay for UAE bookings, letting eligible customers pay in AED via Crypto.com app or QR at checkout, supporting Dubai’s cashless D33 goals.

Emirates has officially added Crypto.com Pay as a payment option for customers booking flights on emirates.com and the carrier’s mobile app. The new service allows users with Crypto.com accounts to pay in UAE dirhams for priced-and-settled bookings, with transactions processed under the UAE’s regulatory framework. The rollout follows a memorandum of understanding signed between the two firms in July 2025 and expands digital payment choice for travellers in the Emirates.

Emirates adds Crypto.com Pay to online and mobile bookings

Customers booking on emirates.com will see Crypto.com Pay appear as a checkout option alongside existing payment methods. When selected on the website, a QR code appears that the user scans with the Crypto.com app to authorize the payment, after which the booking confirmation and e‑ticket are issued automatically.

Bookings made through the Emirates mobile app redirect the customer to the Crypto.com app to complete payment from their digital wallet, then return them to the Emirates app for confirmation. The feature is available now to eligible users in the UAE for transactions denominated in AED.

Operational details of the Crypto.com Pay integration

The integration routes payments through Crypto.com’s Dubai entity and is designed to comply with UAE regulations governing virtual assets and stored-value facilities. Emirates said payments will be processed securely and in line with applicable supervisory requirements in the country.

The checkout flow preserves established booking steps: selection of Crypto.com Pay at the payment stage, wallet approval on the Crypto.com app or QR scan on the website, and instant issuance of the booking confirmation and electronic ticket once payment is completed.

Regulatory and licensing framework in the UAE

Crypto.com’s Dubai unit operates under a regulatory structure that includes an SVF licence issued by the Central Bank of the UAE, marking it as a regulated virtual-asset service provider within the jurisdiction. Emirates and Crypto.com emphasized the role of the UAE’s advanced regulatory environment in enabling the launch.

Executives from both organisations noted the importance of meeting compliance and technical standards before offering the service to customers. The launch took place after months of technical coordination and regulatory checks to ensure alignment with local financial rules.

Partnership timeline and executive statements

The move completes a year-long progression from the July 2025 memorandum of understanding to live service availability in mid‑2026. Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ executive in charge of commercial operations, said the rollout reflects the carrier’s intent to broaden payment choices and match shifting digital behaviours among travellers.

Crypto.com’s senior executives described the deal as a milestone for the company’s Pay product in the region, highlighting ease of use and the significance of working within the UAE’s innovation-friendly ecosystem. Both sides credited their implementation teams for moving the partnership from agreement to operational service in about a year.

Support for Dubai’s D33 cashless agenda

Emirates and Crypto.com positioned the launch as complementary to Dubai’s digital-payments ambitions under the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33). The D33 strategy aims to shift the majority of public and private transactions to digital channels by the end of 2026, and stakeholders said the new payment option contributes to that objective.

The announcement also follows prior collaborations between Crypto.com and Dubai authorities to enable digital payments for government services, and builds on Emirates’ broader efforts to expand contactless and digital payment capabilities across its systems.

Customer impact and future expansion potential

For travellers who already use Crypto.com, the new payment method offers an alternative to card and bank payments and may appeal particularly to tech‑savvy and younger customers. Emirates emphasized that eligible customers in the UAE can use Crypto.com Pay for AED‑settled bookings, with the airline and Crypto.com monitoring demand for possible extension to additional routes or currencies.

Operational safeguards and regulatory compliance are central to the rollout, and both parties signalled they will assess user adoption and feedback to guide next steps. The launch may also prompt other regional merchants and service providers to explore similar digital‑asset linked payment options.

The addition of Crypto.com Pay to Emirates’ checkout options is a tangible step in widening digital payment choices for passengers while aligning with UAE and Dubai objectives to accelerate cashless transactions. As adoption grows, the carrier and its partners say they will continue to refine the experience and evaluate broader rollout across markets and payment rails.
