“Emirati Swimming Crocodile” wins 8 gold medals in two days

The national team swimmer, Salem Ghaleb, nicknamed the “Emirati Swimming Crocodile,” returned to his brilliance again by winning eight gold medals in the Swimming Cup Championship, which was held at the Hamdan Sports Complex, over two days, after he missed the championships in the recent period due to joining the national service.

The Swimming Federation organized the Swimming Cup in cooperation with the All-Star Academy, with the participation of 800 male and female swimmers from 30 government clubs and private academies, in addition to the participation of academies from Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

For his part, the national team coach, Marwan Al-Hattawi, confirmed that “Salem Ghaleb’s strong appearance confirms his desire to quickly return to his level and the strong numbers he achieved, and he is looking for continuity and progress until he achieves his dream of reaching the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.”

Al-Hattawi told Emirates Today: “Salem is one of the great swimmers who is able to quickly return to his level and the numbers he achieved. He had a positive participation in the World Swimming Championships that were held in Hungary last month, and he gave a strong performance in it, and he also succeeded in dominating the races.” The fourth Swimming Cup, which was held in Dubai, won eight medals, including six individual medals and two relay medals, to win the award for best swimmer in the adult category during the tournament. He added: “The tournament witnessed the participation of swimmers The national team, and there were strong competitions and interactions for the swimmers with the presence of all government clubs participating with swimmers from the various teams, which gives the championship and the swimmers the strength of contact and preparation for the upcoming championships in which the team will participate.”
