“Food Safety” denies the health of a video circulating on “banana worms”


The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority denied the authenticity of the video circulating on social media about what was raised regarding the containment of Somali bananas on worms, stressing that the «Helicobac) that was said in the video is that it is present in Somali bananas, is a type of bacteria, and not a type of worm as It is explained, and it is not recognized that the worm of its life cycle inside the fruit is in a large size as it appeared in the video.

The Director of Communication and Community Service at the Authority, Dr. Muhammad Al -Hammadi, said that the authority is committed to verifying the health and safety of all the food products present in the emirate’s markets, including all vegetables and fruits, whether imported or local before allowing their circulation in the markets. Where the authority implements a set of programs and activities to achieve this aiming to monitor and laboratory examination programs, inspection tours, notification systems, follow -up of complaints and follow up on any local, regional or global developments.
