“Health” defines criteria and controls for the diagnosis of death

The Ministry of Health and Community Protection has set controls and criteria for diagnosing death resulting from the complete and final stop of the heart and breathing, to be a guide for doctors and medical installations in diagnosing deaths.

This came in a foil issued by the Ministry in order to append ministerial decision No. 19 of 2022 regarding the criteria for diagnosing death, and these standards included, automatic breathing, the absence of pulse, and lack of blood pressure, in addition to the lack of heart rate in the medical speaker, and confirmed that this diagnosis takes place after confirmation From the death of the death in a certainty due to the complete stopping of the heart, and the final breathing without irreversibility according to the medical standards in force in this regard to prove the death.

In its decision, the Ministry was exposed to the diagnosis of death from the complete and final stopping of all brain functions, noting that this diagnosis is done according to the criteria Special, by death by cerebral standards, using the formation form of death with brain standards.

She explained that a neurologist, neurosurgeon, internal medicine specialist, intensive care specialist, anesthesiologist, pediatrician or any specialist who has sufficient experience to diagnose brain death can perform the diagnosis.

The ministry stressed that it is definitely prohibited to subscribe to doctors or surgical members of the transfer of death in the diagnosis of death in accordance with brain standards in any way.

Diagnosis standards

And on the medical aspects of death using brain standards, the ministry stated that brain death is an irreversible stopping, for all brain functions, including its stem, specific set of pre -conditions for diagnosing death using brain standards.

These standards are that the patient is in a state of stability (coma) of a specific and known cause, and that the patient is under the artificial respiration system and has no automatic breathing, as well as that at least 6 hours have passed since the incident that led to the death of the brain occurred And clearly determine the cause of death, such as (head injury, cerebral hemorrhage).

These criteria also include that the patient is not in a state of cardiovascular shock, and that all metabolic and deaf metabolic imbalances have been corrected, and that there is no response to any type of stimulant, in addition to the lack of complete reflexes despite the fact that some minor sophisticated reflexes can remain.

The ministry stressed that the patient’s temperature should not be low and that the temperature of the body of the body is equal to or more than 36 degrees Celsius before starting the procedures for diagnosing death resulting from the complete and final stopping of all brain functions, and if it is less than that, the patient must be heated to raise it.

The Ministry indicated the need to exclude that the patient is under the influence of sedatives, drugs, narcotics, nervous system inhibitors, muscle relaxants, and antidepressants, and the blood levels of these substances, patient file, or medical patient file should not refer to the presence of explicit levels of sedative medications, muscle relaxants, or on The least awaiting the time of scientifically recognized time, which is five times the age of the half of the drug after the use of the use of the drug with the longest half of the specified medicines, in the absence of severe insufficiency in liver or kidney functions before the evaluation is made.
