Italy’s public debt approaches 3 trillion euros


The Bank of Italy announced that the debt of the public administration in Italy in June increased by 30.3 billion euros from the previous month, reaching 2948.5 billion euros, according to Italian media.

The central bank said the increase reflected public administrations’ requirements (€15.3 billion) and the growth of the Treasury’s liquid assets (€13.5 billion to €45.5 billion).

Meanwhile, the Bank of Italy said tax revenues in June amounted to €42 billion, an increase of €3.8 billion compared to the equivalent month in 2023.

He added that in the first half of 2024, tax revenues amounted to 248.8 billion euros, an increase of 17.5 billion euros compared to the same period last year.
