Launching the first environmentally friendly park in Dubai

Dubai Municipality completed Al Khazzan Park, which is environmentally friendly and the first of its kind in the region, and is operated using 100% solar energy, as part of implementing green building standards.

Director of the Public Projects Department, Engineer Mohammed Mashroom, said that the idea of the experiment came through an initiative adopted by the department, which is to create gardens in which energy is generated internally using solar energy only, so that it is independent in its operation from the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority network.

He pointed out that the most important obstacle facing the project was how to provide enough space to install solar panels, while at the same time not being exposed to shadows during the year. A number of tests were conducted on site and the shadows in the park were studied throughout the year, and then the location of the installation was determined.
