The opening ceremony began with the national anthem of the United Arab Emirates, presented by the armed forces’ musical band, accompanied by an air show by two fighter planes and the passage of a marine vessel carrying the flag of the United Arab Emirates.
A live presentation of a fictitious military scenario was then presented. The scenario was about liberating a port that had been seized by a terrorist group. The scenario included an airdrop and the participation of fighter planes and ground and naval forces, where a squad of elite forces liberated the port.
The scenario also included an airdrop and low-altitude flight of military aircraft, air support from helicopters, and naval support from naval boats, in addition to a ground clash with firearms by ground forces and lightning and rapid incursions with the participation of tanks and armored cars.
The ceremony concluded with an air show presented by the Knights Division of the UAE Armed Forces, in which the pilots demonstrated their ingenuity and superior ability to conduct lightning and rapid maneuvers, within a harmonious air formation.
The show included a flight of the team’s planes over the main stage, where the participating planes succeeded in painting an artistic painting with the flags of the UAE, marking the start of the “IDEX 2015” activities.
The main show was preceded by heritage shows highlighting the rich cultural heritage of the UAE, which included several shows and segments, including Al-Ayyala and Al-Razfa, in addition to a number of heritage shows.
During the opening ceremony, a rifle show was presented by the Honor Guard Band of the Republic of Belarus, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of its establishment, and a traditional band from the Republic of South Korea presented a heritage painting with the music of the traditional lion dance. The opening ceremony included a presentation of the previous sessions of IDEX, starting in 1993 and continuing through the subsequent sessions, and included the number of countries and companies that contributed to each session.
This is the largest and largest tournament with the participation of 1,200 companies from 55 countries that showcase the latest technological developments in the field of defense industries.
