Salma Al Mazrouei, the mother of the child Wadima, whose father and his mistress were accused of burying her last June, expressed her happiness at the issuance of the child protection decision that was approved by the Council of Ministers yesterday, under the name “Wadima Law.” She added that she received the news of the directive of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to rename the proposed law to become “Wadeema Law,” in reference to her daughter, with overwhelming joy, noting that the law revives my daughter’s name for life. It will remain living evidence of the painful fate that this innocent child faced. She added that the law came at its time to protect children, so that they would not suffer as Wadeema suffered before her death. She continued, “The directive of His Highness the Vice President of the State made us feel the extent of His Highness’s interest in Wadima’s cause, as he did not forget her, but was keen to revive her name, so that her suffering at the hands of her father and his mistress would not be forgotten,” adding that her sister, “Mira,” suffered a lot, and she needed someone like him. This law is to protect her and all children from brutal practices against them, hoping that all children will live happily and safely under the care of “Wadeema Law.”
