New facilities for transferring “landline” telephone services from one operator to another

The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority in the country has provided new facilities for subscribers to fixed (landline) telephone services to transfer their telephone services from one operator to another.

She said in her post yesterday, on social media, that subscribers to fixed phone services in all regions of the country, as of yesterday, can transfer landline phone numbers from the current operator to the other operator, without the need to change the number, while transferring all services associated with it. And install new devices without having to pay any additional fees due to the transfer process.

She explained that all individuals and institutions can benefit from the fixed telephone transfer service, by registering as a new customer with the new operator using the Emirates ID.

She noted that the transfer request may be rejected if the customer details provided to the new licensee are incomplete or do not match the information registered with the old licensee. In addition, the transfer may be rejected if the transferred line is under suspension, indicating that it must be accepted. The new operator requests the customer’s service at its location, by providing the service via its network or using the data streaming service (digital torrent), otherwise the new operator may not be able to accept the new customer.

She stressed that all amounts due to the old operator must be paid after transferring the number to the new operator, otherwise the entire line with the new operator may be cut off until the subscriber settles all amounts due to the old operator.

She pointed out that if the customer subscribes to a package that includes voice and non-voice services, transferring the fixed phone number results in the cancellation of the non-voice services part of the package. However, if the customer subscribes to the non-voice services with the old licensee, as multiple independent services (not a package) Here, the customer needs to deal with the old licensee, regarding the continuation or cancellation of the independent, non-voice service.

She noted that some service interruption may occur during the transfer process or may not occur at all, and the current number and its associated services may continue to operate until the point at which new equipment is installed and the new services begin to operate.
