Officially .. Cosmin, the coach of the national team

Yesterday, the Football Association announced its official contract with the Sharjah coach, Romanian Oario Cosmin, to train the national team with a two -year contract, succeeding Portuguese Paulo Pinto, which was sacked last March to decrease the level of performance and results.

Cosmin will lead the national team during the remaining two rounds in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup against Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan on the fifth and 10th of June, respectively.

The Football Association said on its official page via the «X» platform: “The Emirates Football Association contracts with Roman Cosmin to train our first national team for two years.”

Kozmin is the eighth coach of the national team in eight years, since the departure of the national coach Mahdi Ali in 2017.

The UAE “Al -Abyad” is currently third in the ranking of the first group teams with 13 points, and its opportunity to directly qualify for the World Cup is conditional on winning the remaining two games in the last two rounds in the qualifiers, in exchange for the loss of Uzbekistan against Qatar in the last round of the qualifiers, and the team also has the opportunity to qualify for the World Cup through the attachment.

Although the former coach Pinto led the team in the last period to succeed Argentine Rudolfo Arwarina, he failed to create a strong team despite the availability of the necessary tools, especially after new players joined the Emirati citizenship recently.

Pinto led the team in 21 official games, winning 10 of them, drawing five times and losing six times.

• “Caesar”, the eighth coach of the national team within 8 years.
