The new center aims to develop economic relations between the UAE and China, enhance cooperation in the fields of trade, science, technology, education and culture, and benefit from the strategic location of “Expo City” and the innovative business environment to enhance the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative, as well as enhance the city’s attractiveness as an innovative commercial center for Chinese companies.
A statement issued today stated that the opening of the center coincides with the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the UAE and China. The official opening was attended by the Chinese Ambassador to the UAE, Zhang Yiming, the Consul General of China, O Boqian, and representatives of Expo City Dubai and leading Chinese institutions.
“China and the UAE are reliable partners committed to cooperation and achieving mutual benefit, and we are ready to work side by side to strengthen our friendship, deepen political trust, and enhance practical cooperation,” Yiming said.
He added: “The China-UAE Center for Economic and Trade Exchange will ensure that our comprehensive strategic partnership continues to flourish and achieve greater benefits for our two peoples.”
For his part, Executive Director of Expo City Dubai, Najeeb Al Ali, said: “Expo City is located at the heart of Dubai’s future, and is rapidly emerging as a world-class destination for all who share our commitment to creating a more sustainable and prosperous future.”
He added: “We are proud to witness the opening of the China-Emirates Center for Economic and Commercial Exchange, which is a prominent milestone in the shared history of our two countries and an important symbol of our common future vision.”
The Economic and Commercial Exchange Center, which extends over an area of more than 4,000 square meters, includes the exhibition “Weaving a Thousand-Year Dream,” organized by the China Merchants Group in cooperation with Sinotrans and Nanjing University of Arts.
It is noteworthy that Expo City Dubai includes innovative Chinese companies, including Sino Trans and Shaheen Company. The launch of the new master plan for “Expo City” has contributed to more interest from Chinese institutions, which are attracted by the future vision of the city’s development and the proximity to Al Maktoum International Airport, the Dubai Exhibition Center and Jebel Ali Port – a major center in the Belt and Road Initiative that aims to connect Asia with Africa and Europe.
