Rashid Abdullah… from programming to passion for coffee

At the beginning of his studies in programming sciences, the entrepreneur and founder of the “Types” coffee supply and roasting company, Rashid Abdullah, did not imagine that he would take a different path in his professional life away from the field of technical programming, which he chose from the beginning of his interest and passion for studying the secrets of that sector, and from which he could not turn away. About him, and decided to combine it with the field of coffee.

Abdullah considered that the coincidence led him to a new passion in his life, which is roasting, preparing and supplying coffee products, as he began the steps to establish his startup company in 2021, until the process of its actual launch was completed and developed during the beginning of 2022.

Abdullah revealed to Emirates Today that the circumstances of the pandemic and its challenges did not prevent him from establishing his project, but rather were a strong incentive and motivation to work on the project and launch it, indicating that in the beginning he was not very interested and used to consuming coffee products in a similar way to many of his friends, but he He had the talent of tasting different types and discovering and choosing the best.

Abdullah identified the beginning of thinking about his project as the fact that his talent for tasting coffee caused one of his friends to gift him one of the coffee products that he had brought while traveling to one of the countries of the world, and to challenge him to find out the components of the coffee that was mixed with several ingredients, and when he sipped the coffee in the council that included his friends, he listed the ingredients to them in a detailed manner. Flour without seeing the product’s packaging, which surprised his friends who suggested he start a coffee trading and roasting business.

He added that he was initially surprised by the proposal, and responded to his friends that he was more interested in programming science, but they told him that he could benefit from his knowledge of programming and his talent for knowing the taste of coffee in programming roasting machines, to produce the best taste according to each type.

Abdullah indicated that he did not hesitate to begin studying the steps of the project and benefiting from his passion for the field of technical programming, in creating a smart application for ordering and supplying coffee, especially for his friends and colleagues.

He explained that at the beginning of his work, he discovered a great passion for coffee and its secrets that he had not realized, which made him interested in bringing many types of coffee from abroad, and working on roasting and preparing them according to consumer requirements.

He said, “Coffee is not just an industry or trade, but rather a science with its own secrets and principles, as each type of coffee gives a specific taste, even if some see similar types, in addition to the fact that the speed of the roasting machine changes and determines the degree of acidity of the coffee, in addition to Until the preservation and storage of coffee is determined by standards, to obtain the appropriate taste, which requires preservation and storage, away from sunlight or moisture, and preferably as much as possible away from bright light locations.”

He added, “His application was very popular with customers, which made him gradually expand his field of work, until he now supplies coffee to many coffee outlets and cafes in various regions of the country,” pointing out that he deals in many different coffee products, the most prominent of which is Brazilian. Ethiopian and Latin American.

Abdullah indicated that he plans to develop his project in the future, to include supplying a larger number of coffee outlets, and increasing the quantities and types that he prepares and supplies to various regions of the country.
