Registration Opens for Dubai Mountain Bike Race

Dubai Sports Council announced the opening of registration for the “Mountain Bike Race” which will be held at the cycling track in Mushrif National Park in Al Khawaneej area. The race is organised by the Dubai Sports Council in cooperation with Dubai Municipality on October 6, with the participation of a group of champions and mountain bike enthusiasts in Dubai, competing in the middle of a forest containing 70 thousand trees.

Dubai Sports Council said in a statement yesterday that registration for participation in the race continues through the “Hoba Sport” website until September 29.

The race includes three different categories for mountain and sand bikes for men and women: the community category for a distance of 18 km, the amateur category for a distance of 37 km, and the professional category for a distance of 56 km.

The previous edition of the race, held last year, witnessed great success with the participation of more than 400 cyclists of different nationalities and ages, in which Emirati Hadi Hamed won first place in the men’s amateur category for a distance of 37 kilometers, and valuable prizes are allocated to the winners of the first places in each race.

The mountain bike track in Mushrif Park has been specially designed to add more excitement and thrill to the race, as cyclists pass through the trees with many different ascents, turns and jumps.

The track extends for a distance of 50 km in all its stages, and is divided into three tracks, including the green and blue tracks, which are 20 km long together, and the blue track is 30 km long. The tracks were designed according to the highest international standards and specifications. The track is one of the most prominent and diverse cycling tracks and paths that Dubai includes and extends to different regions, the latest of which was the Hatta Mountain Bike Track, which is the longest track of its kind in the country, as it includes 21 cycling paths with a length of 53 km.

The annual sports events agenda organised by the Dubai Sports Council is full of various types of cycling championships, the popularity of which increases every year, and the base of its practitioners expands, as it is a recreational and competitive sport at the same time, and a group of world champions compete in it in mountain biking.

One of the most prominent factors that encourage all segments of society, whether residents or visitors to Dubai of all nationalities and ages, to practice cycling anywhere in Dubai, is the availability of advanced sports infrastructure, which includes bicycle tracks designed according to the latest international standards with safe paths.
