“Responsibility” launches an awareness campaign about the dangers of reckless and reckless driving


The Abu Dhabi Center for Legal and Community Awareness “Responsibility” at the Judicial Department launched an expanded awareness campaign under the slogan “Your safety on the road is your responsibility! Follow the laws and be responsible,” which aims to enhance community awareness of the dangers of driving recklessly and recklessly and endangering the lives of road users.

The awareness campaign, which will continue until the end of January of next year 2025, comes within the framework of implementing the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the Presidential Court, and Head of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, to enhance the dissemination of legal culture among people. Community members to maintain security and stability.

In addition, the campaign aims to raise awareness of the dire consequences of irresponsible behavior when driving vehicles on the road, such as not adhering to set speeds, suddenly changing lanes, not following traffic rules, and parading in vehicles.

The campaign pointed to several reasons that push drivers to drive recklessly and directly affect the safety and security of roads and their users, including: bragging and the desire to show strength or superiority, psychological pressure, tension and boredom, and a lack of awareness of the risks resulting from reckless and reckless driving.

The campaign also highlights the risks of such actions, the penalties and legal liability in this regard, as well as the consequences of this behavior, including serious traffic accidents, injuries and deaths, in addition to the material damage to infrastructure and vehicles.

The campaign indicated that respecting traffic laws and driving carefully is not just an individual responsibility, but rather part of the collective commitment to community safety. Therefore, drivers must adhere to traffic rules and laws, avoid distractions other than the road, maintain focus and calm, and not use vehicles for purposes other than their intended purpose.

It is noteworthy that Article 399 of Federal Decree Law No. 31 of 2021 stipulates that anyone who intentionally commits an act that would endanger people’s lives, health, security, or freedoms shall be punished with imprisonment and a fine, or with one of these two penalties. The penalty shall be imprisonment if the act results in harm of any kind. It was, without prejudice to any more severe penalty stipulated by law, in addition to the penalties for traffic crimes stipulated in the Federal Traffic Law.
