“Restoring the three occupied islands.” The beginning statement in Zayed’s parliamentary speeches

“We will not give up a single grain of sand from our land to Iran, as the land belongs to the people and not to a family.” Clear, strong, decisive and resolute words were repeated by the founder of the state, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, God willing, in every forum and occasion, so he made them a platform. An action and belief firmly established in the minds of all Emiratis, so that the issue of the three islands: (Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, and Abu Musa) occupied by Iran, remains at the highest level of the state’s local, Arab and international priorities.

Zayd:

– “The UAE confirms its intention to take all peaceful measures to restore its sovereignty over its three islands.”

“We look forward to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s response to these efforts to end its occupation of the three islands through direct negotiations.”

Sheikh Zayed, may God rest his soul, was keen for the issue of the occupied islands to be at the forefront of the issues included in his opening speeches for the regular and extraordinary sessions of the Federal National Council, and to begin his words with it, as it is a national issue that does not accept compromise or concession, and it is also an issue that must be respected. By national consensus, and entrenched in the conscience of the people of the nation.

The speeches of the late Sheikh Zayed, at the opening of the sessions of the Federal National Council, and the vision they contained regarding the occupied Emirati islands, carried four basic goals: the first was the continuous reminder of the land issue at every opportunity, and the second was a warning of the situation the issue had reached, and the extent of the peaceful efforts being made. The UAE, armed with the legitimacy of its position and the soundness of its approach, in order to persuade Iran to abandon its position of rejecting dialogue, and the third is its keenness for the members of the Council to be informed of what the situation has reached, and to urge them to work to carry this issue to the people, with the aim of forming a collective political awareness. In the Emirates, the issue of the islands will not be forgotten, and that the Emirates will remain faithful to the pledge to restore its rights, while the last goal was more like a mandate conveyed by a clear message to the members of the Council to carry this just cause to the whole world, to be a reliable support in all the regional efforts undertaken by the state. And global, to restore the UAE’s rights to its occupied islands, and persuade Iran to return them.

The inclusion of Sheikh Zayed’s speeches on the issue of the occupied islands represented a clear message of insistence that this issue be rooted in the souls of the nation’s people, and that it should never be given up, no matter how long it takes. This was evident in most or all of the speeches, speeches, and official meetings of the President of the Federal National Council. , Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, which reflects the Council’s keenness to adopt these principles in its external participations, through Arab and international parliamentary conferences, by gaining support and support from various parties for these issues, including the issue of the three Emirati islands occupied by Iran: (Tunb Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, and Abu Musa), and trying to persuade the Iranian side to resolve them peacefully, or resort to the International Court of Justice.

The most prominent words of Sheikh Zayed, may God have mercy on him, under the dome of Parliament, on the issue of the occupied islands, came on February 6, 1993, when he opened the parliamentary session, saying: “The United Arab Emirates considers that Iran’s continued occupation of its three islands: Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, and Abu Musa Its failure to adhere to what was stated in the memorandum of understanding regarding Abu Musa Island represents a violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state, and a destabilization of security and stability in the region. It also represents a violation of the declared desire to develop relations between the two countries, and a conflict with the principles upon which relations between countries are based. We affirm that Developing friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries is linked to strengthening trust, and with the measures taken by the Islamic Republic of Iran, consistent with its commitment to the principles of international law and international conventions, and its respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the United Arab Emirates, and the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries, and that the United Arab Emirates It has repeatedly expressed its desire to resolve this problem by peaceful means, and confirms its intention to take and follow up on all peaceful measures necessary to restore its sovereignty over its three islands in accordance with the principles and Charter of the United Nations and international law.
