Special Olympics champions shine in “Sail”

Our champions in the UAE Special Olympics sailing team recorded a remarkable presence at the conclusion of the activities of the first regional sailing competition, which was successfully organized by the “Dubai International Marine Sports Club” with the support of the “Dubai Sports Council”, in partnership with the “Emirates Special Olympics”, and under the supervision of the “Emirates Sailing Federation”. Our heroes succeeded in climbing the podium, presenting wonderful technical levels that qualified them to compete for first places in four categories, and achieve medals after days filled with serious competition on the waters of the Dubai Islands with the rest of the participating Arab teams, namely: Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Morocco, and Syria.

The duo, Mohammed Al Zubaidi and Omar Al Hammadi, accompanied by their unified partner, Mohammed Al Owais, and the duo, Marwan Ibrahim and Zayed Al Ameri, accompanied by their unified partner, Sultan Al Owais, succeeded in achieving the silver medal equally between them in the third level race.

Our hero, Muhammad Ali Al-Zubaidi, and the unified partner, Muhammad Al-Owais, also won a silver medal in the second category of the second level, and our hero, Marwan Ibrahim, and the unified partner, Sultan Al-Owais, won a bronze medal in the first category of the second level.

The champions received the medals in the presence of the audience and parents, where they were crowned by Mohammed Khalifa Al Nuaimi, Vice Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Member of the Board of Trustees of the UAE Special Olympics, Mohammed Al Obaidli, Secretary General of the UAE Modern Sailing and Rowing Federation, Mohammed Al Marri, Director of the Sports Affairs Department at the club, and Dr. Maryam Al Matroushi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Dubai Police athletes, and Dr. Sherif Al-Fouly, Head of the Games and Competitions Sector at the Regional Presidency of Special Olympics International.

The organizing committee chose Tunisian coach Qassim Bin Jaim, the technical director of the Bahraini Special Olympics team, to receive the Best Coach Award, after the Bahraini Special Olympics champions performed well and achieved many positions in the second and third levels.

First category – second level:

1- (Equally) between Ali Al-Mutawaqi, the unified partner Ahmed Sadiq, Muhammad Al Ali, and the unified partner Walid Daraan – Bahrain.

3- Marwan Ibrahim and unified partner Sultan Al Owais – UAE.

The second category of the second level:

1- Nawaf Awad and unified partner Manaf Al-Rahib – Kuwait.

2- Muhammad Ali Al-Zubaidi and the unified partner, Muhammad Al-Owais – UAE.

3- Yassin Al-Zaoumi and consolidated partner Yassin Mahdi – Morocco.

The third category of the third level:

1- (Equally) between Ahmed Hakim and the unified partner Abdulaziz Al-Qasab (Saudi Arabia), and Moneim Al-Wahabi and the unified partner Walid Kaddour (Morocco).

3- Masoun Maarawi and unified partner Yasser Al-Khader (Syria).

4- (Participation badge) Suleiman Al-Nasser and unified partner Abdul Rahman Al-Kandari (Kuwait).

Third level:
