The Director of the Drug Administration at the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, Dr. Ruqaya Al Bastaki, warned against the indiscriminate use of sexual stimulants, whether in the form of medicines, nutritional supplements, or any other form, noting that it may lead to heart, respiratory, and psychological diseases, and in some cases it may cause Sudden death, as a result of heart or stroke.

She explained that the Ministry’s hospitals received patients who suffered health problems as a result of the incorrect and indiscriminate use of these stimulants, and they arrived at the hospitals in urgent need of receiving immediate medical attention.

She pointed out that there are many types of products sold in the markets, and outside pharmacies, that contain undeclared sexual stimulants, and are used as nutritional and herbal supplements. When the Ministry discovers that they contain medicinal substances, it circulates to the municipalities that they must be withdrawn from the markets, and warns against them in all media outlets.

Al Bastaki stated that most of the users of these types of stimulants are elderly people, with the aim of alleviating the symptoms of aging, pointing out that the Ministry advises young people, about to get married, not to use any product that contains a medical claim that is not registered with it, due to lack of certainty about its safety. .

The Ministry of Health and Community Protection called for not using the hormone “testosterone” on a large scale in attempts to alleviate the symptoms of aging in men, and stressed that health care practitioners should not dispense “testosterone” medications to men who suffer from a decline in testosterone levels, due to some medical conditions, except after confirmation through Laboratory tests.

She continued, “Health care practitioners must make patients aware of the risk of increased risk of cardiovascular disease when deciding whether to start or continue a patient on (testosterone) treatment, and patients who use medications containing this hormone must seek medical attention immediately.” Immediately if there are symptoms of a heart attack or stroke, such as chest pain, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, weakness in one part or side of the body, or a speech disorder.

She added that people who suffer from heart disease or psychological disorders should receive immediate medical supervision when using it, because it can lead to the worsening of some conditions, such as depression, and common side effects include fatigue, drowsiness, depression, nasal congestion, and shortness of breath, and it should not be used. Rauwolfia should not be used by children, pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Treatment of erectile dysfunction

The Ministry of Health and Community Protection recently warned, in an official circular, against the use of nutritional supplements that have been proven to contain medicinal substances used to treat erectile dysfunction in men, which threatens the lives of their users, including the product known as Bluefusion Capsules, which is used as a nutritional supplement, because it contains prescription medicinal substances. Medical treatment to treat erectile dysfunction in men, which may cause a sharp drop in blood pressure, which may reach dangerous levels that threaten the lives of people with heart disease, diabetes, and high levels of fats in the blood.

Undeclared pharmaceutical substances

The Ministry of Health and Community Protection reported the existence of sexual stimulants used as herbal preparations and tonics, but most of them contain undeclared medicinal substances, such as Teldenafil (Sildenafil), which may cause a drop in blood pressure that may reach a dangerous level, and may pose a danger to patients. People with heart disease, diabetes, or high levels of fat, especially those who take medications containing nitrates.

She stated that there are other sexual stimulant substances, such as yohimbine, that may cause dangerous side effects, including high blood pressure and heart rate, anxiety, dizziness, headaches, nausea, and sleep disturbances, and can also pose a great danger to patients who suffer from diabetes. Suffer from high blood pressure or heart, kidney or liver disease, stressing that it should not be used by children, or pregnant or breastfeeding women.
