The “Confidence of Business” indicator in Dubai rises 14.8 points during the last quarter of 2024


A survey of the Business Sector in Dubai for the fourth quarter of 2024, issued by the Department of Economy and Tourism, revealed the increase in the “complex of business trust” 14.8 points on a quarterly basis to 125.5 points, from 110.7 points in the third quarter of 2024.

According to the study, which the Emirates Today viewed a copy, small and medium -sized companies maintained the strength of their expectations in the fourth quarter of 2024, where they recorded 127 points compared to large companies that recorded 124.5 points.

In line with the general trends, the business confidence index for the “Export Society” rose 8.3 points to 114.2 points in the fourth quarter 2024, compared to reading 105.9 points in the third quarter of 2024, and reading 113.8 points in the fourth quarter of 2023, and the services sector companies were more optimistic in the fourth quarter of 2024, compared to the companies of the trade and industry sectors, as the readings of the business confidence indicator recorded 128.5, 128, and 122 points, respectively.

The “complex of business confidence”, over the past time, showed a continuous upward path, reflecting the positive expectations between business owners, as the index witnessed in the first quarter of 2024 a noticeable increase compared to the previous quarter, as 10 points rose on a quarterly basis to 141.5 points.

In turn, the SME sector in Dubai showed a continuous positive path in the readings of the business confidence index. In line with the general positive trends, the sector of small and medium -sized companies in Dubai witnessed a slight increase in commercial activity. In the first quarter of 2024, the business confidence index for small and medium companies reached its highest level when 140.6 points, highlighting the strength of business activity.

The general performance data of business in the fourth quarter 2024 showed that 47% of the companies participating in the study indicated an increase in the volume of sales, due to the high demand and effective marketing strategies, and 21% of the participating companies increased the number of employees due to the high demand and business expansion plans, and about the general future expectations of the first quarter period of this year 2025, most companies participating in the study expect (70%), stability of selling prices, while you expect 24% increase In the prices of its products as a result of high operating expenses, inflation, increased demand for products, high costs in raw materials, shipping and rent.

Most companies (75%) will maintain the number of employees without change, while 20% of them will increase the number of employees to meet customer requests, expand business, and support corporate growth plans.


Study sample

The investigative study was conducted on a total sample that includes 501 companies from all over Dubai, and the sample included a mixture of small, medium and large companies, which includes sufficient representation from the sectors of industry, trade and services.

“Business Performance” refers to the actual performance of business during the same quarter, in which the investigative study was conducted, and includes the financial and operational results achieved by the company during that specified period.
