His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, surprised the owner of an Afghan carpet shop in Abu Dhabi, with a visit to his shop, yesterday, following the spread of a video showing the seller rejecting a tempting offer to sell a carpet displayed on one of the walls of his shop. Despite the insistence he faced coupled with a real desire to acquire the carpet from the buyer, the reason for the seller’s refusal to give up the carpet, as he said, is that it bears a picture of the deceased, God willing. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed that the UAE has great appreciation for all those who share the dreams and aspirations of the Emiratis, and he addressed these people, saying: “The UAE is your second country.”
His Highness shook hands with the shop owner, exchanged conversations with him, and took pictures with him, expressing his appreciation for the gratitude, love and loyalty that the merchant had for the late great man, may God have mercy on him. His Highness posted two tweets on his page on the social networking site Twitter, in which he expressed his happiness at the wide space that Sheikh Zayed still occupies in the hearts of people of all nationalities, despite the passage of years since he moved to the side of his Lord, after a long journey of work for happiness. His people, those residing in the Emirates, and his efforts that have continued over the decades to ensure a decent life for people wherever they are.
His Highness said: “These (Pope Zayed) are two spontaneous words…from the owner of an Afghan carpet store, whom I was pleased to visit today…they had a great impact on the soul…they expressed the symbolism of Zayed, his love, and his place in his heart, when he was offered to buy a carpet in his store bearing the picture of Father Zayed.” Despite the offer and insistence, he vehemently refused…a story of loyalty written by Zayed with his humanity.”
His Highness stressed that the UAE has succeeded, through the benevolent approach that Sheikh Zayed planned from the beginning, in creating a global model of tolerance and coexistence.
He said: “The UAE, with its benevolent approach established by Zayed, is weaving a global model of tolerance and coexistence… with which it has won the hearts of millions around the world. There are many throughout the nation who have love for us in their hearts. They coexist with us. They share our dreams and aspirations. To all of them we say: The Emirates is your second country.
