The high temperatures will not prevent me from shining with Al Wasl

Al Wasl player, Serbian Srdan Mijajlovic, confirmed that he feels very happy to join the “Emperor”, noting that the high temperatures will not prevent him from shining with the “Panthers”.

“I did not face any difficulties due to the high temperatures,” Srdan Mijajlovic told Emarat Al Youm. “Although I am playing in the UAE and the region in general for the first time, I did not face any difficulties regarding the high temperatures, especially since this is the case for all players. Therefore, I adapted naturally without any problems. I do not focus on this at all. I only care about appearing well with Al Wasl and implementing the coach’s instructions.”

He pointed out that he is well acquainted with Al Wasl coach Milos Milovic, stating that he played under his supervision for one season in the Red Star team, and he feels happy to work with him again, and wishes him success in the coming period.

As for Al Wasl’s victory in the “derby” over Al Nasr, with three goals to one, in the third round of the ADNOC Professional League, he said: “It was a strong match, and there is no doubt that winning the “derby” is of great importance, as we did not start the match well, but the team showed its character in returning better in the second half, and we scored three goals, so we deserved the victory without a doubt.”

He added: “We will close the file of the Al Nasr match, because we will play another difficult match against Al Ain, tomorrow, at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium, as the league matches will become more difficult as they continue, and the pace of play increases from all clubs.”

The 30-year-old player stressed that the levels of matches in the professional league are very good, and said: “I liked the presence of many clubs that have great chances to compete for the title, and the high levels of the players, as all the clubs have a very good group of players.”

He talked about his ambitions with Al Wasl, saying: “I hope to achieve victories with the team in various matches and tournaments, but that will be achieved by doubling the effort and working hard in training and matches in an effort to achieve a distinguished season, especially since the team achieved the double last season, the league and the President’s Cup.”

Srdan Mijajlovic pointed out that he has different experiences that help him perform well with Al Wasl, and said: “I played in many European leagues, such as the Turkish, Russian and Serbian, and in the last two seasons with Red Star, I achieved the league and cup titles with the team.”

As for his preferred position, he said: “I play in the defensive midfield position, but I can play in more than one position in defence and midfield, according to what the technical staff asks of me.”

He concluded his statements by saying: “For my part, I can say that I will do my best in training and matches. I received a wonderful reception from the club, and I want to have an influential role in helping the team achieve victories.”

It is noteworthy that Srdan Mijajlovic played with the Serbian national team in Euro 2024, and participated in his country’s match against Denmark, in the third round of the group stage. He is good at playing in the midfield and right-back positions, while he participated last season with Red Star in 26 matches in the Serbian League, and 6 matches in the Champions League, during which he managed to score two goals, and made four for his teammates.
