The Higher Education Committee discusses ways to develop the technical and vocational education system


The Higher Education Committee held its first annual meetings chaired And the formation of the committees emanating from the Higher Education Committee, as well as reviewing the achievements of the United Arab Emirates University and its future plans.

The Education and Human Development Council had approved the formation of the Higher Education Committee headed by Dr. Abdul Rahman Al -Awar, and the membership of: Minister of Community Empowerment and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed University Shamma Bint Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Sports and Head of Higher Colleges Country, Supreme President of the United Arab Emirates University, Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, in addition to the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Mohamed Al -Mualla, His Excellency Shehab Abuhab, Director General of the Advanced Technology Research Council, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratis Acting Assistant for Curricula and Evaluation Sector at the Ministry of Education Amna Al Saleh, and Acting Director of Academic Accreditation Commission at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Samira Abdul Rahman Al -Mulla.

Al -Awar pointed out the importance of the role of the Higher Education Committee in coordinating and harmonizing the strategies and policies of the higher education sector and scientific research, and linking them to the outputs of the public education sector and the requirements of the labor market, to ensure that new generations are provided with the skills and sciences they need to be distinguished in their career after graduation.

The discussions focused on the priorities of higher education and scientific research during the next stage, which includes three main axes: the student’s journey comprehensively to meet the needs of students and enable them to move easily to the labor market, and to build fruitful and constructive partnerships with higher education institutions in a way that enhances their competitiveness and raises the quality of their outputs and provides benefits Tangier for students, developing policy frameworks and procedures and updating them to keep pace with the requirements of the current stage and future trends in the country.

The meeting discussed the most prominent developments of the initiatives and transformational projects led by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research within these axes, and the committee members also discussed the challenges facing the development of the technical and vocational education sector, and the most prominent solutions and initiatives that will transform these challenges into opportunities in order to prepare students to the requirements of the labor market .

Dr. Ahmed bin Abdullah Balah Al -Falasi indicated that the committee will seek to redraw the higher education system and its role in society and the comprehensive economic renaissance, to provide an educational model able to respond to the challenges imposed by the 21st century. Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh said that the efforts of the Higher Education Committee contribute fundamentally to determining future development paths.

During the meeting, the United Arab Emirates University reviewed its most prominent achievements and development plans during the next stage, as the university occupies the 261 rating globally according to the QS classification and is among the best 300 universities in the world according to the international classification.
