“The Mohammed Bin Rashid Solar Energy Complex” appoints a consultative coalition


Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Diwa) announced yesterday the appointment of a coalition led by the international company “Deloitte” as a consultant for the seventh stage of the “Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Complex”, in an important step towards achieving the goals of the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, and the carbon neutrality strategy 2050 for the Emirate of Dubai, to provide 100% of the production capacity of energy from clean energy sources by 2050.

The authority stated, in a statement, that this stage will merge 1,600 megawatts of solar photovoltaic energy with an advanced power storage system with batteries with a capacity of 1000 megawatts, which will make this stage one of the largest solar energy and storage projects in the world according to the independent product model.

The seventh stage is scheduled to be operated in stages between 2027 and 2029, so that the authority will overcome the goal of reaching the productive capacity of the complex to 5,000 megawatts, before the date set in 2030.

The Managing Director, CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Saeed Mohammed Al -Tayer, said: “By combining advanced solar technologies for the photovoltaic energy and a pioneering system for storing energy with batteries, this stage will contribute to overcoming the intermittent nature of solar energy, and will constitute a repetitive model for energy systems Sustainable worldwide. ”

He added, “Our cooperation with (Deloitte) confirms our keenness to benefit from global experiences in implementing projects that reformulate the future of renewable energy.”

The coalition led by “Deloitte” will provide integrated advisory services to ensure the strategic compatibility of the project with national priorities, including compliance with the laws and regulations in force in the UAE, and the preparation of the project tender documents according to the independent product model for energy, bidding management, commercial negotiations, and financial structure And completing energy purchase agreements, as well as completing the financial closure of the project.

In addition, “Deloitte” will lead the process of communicating with global investors through marketing, promotional offers, workshops and introducing the concept of independent energy projects, and strengthening international partnerships to accelerate the transformation of the energy field in Dubai.
