The Office of the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah mourns Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi


The court of His Highness Sheikh Saqr bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, the late, God Almighty willing, mourns Sheikh Sultan bin Saqr bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, the second son of His Highness, who passed away last night at the age of 63 years.

The following is the text of the statement issued by the office of His Highness the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah: “In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.” O reassured soul, return to your Lord satisfied and pleasing, so enter among My servants and enter My Paradise. “God Almighty has spoken the truth. With hearts that believe in God’s will and destiny, the office of His Highness Sheikh Saqr bin Muhammad Al Qasimi mourns Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, the second son of His Highness, the late, God Almighty willing, Sheikh Sultan bin Saqr bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, who passed away last night. May God bless the deceased with his vast mercy and dwell him in spacious gardens and grant his family and relatives patience and solace. We belong to God and to Him we shall return.”

It was decided to declare official mourning and lower the media at half-mast in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah for a week, and to suspend local departments there for a period of three days, starting today, Friday, with work to resume on Monday, December 14th.

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, performed the funeral prayer over the body of the late Sheikh Sultan bin Saqr bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, in the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Ras Al Khaimah city.

The prayer was also performed by His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, and His Highness Sheikh Rashid bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Quwain.

The funeral prayer, which was held immediately after the Friday prayer, was performed by Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Head of the Land Department, Sheikh Mohammed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Major General Sheikh Talib bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Director General of Ras Al Khaimah Police, and Sheikh Omar bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Head of the Special Department of His Highness the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah. Sheikh Faisal bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Head of the Financial Department and Head of the Free Zone, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Head of the Customs and Ports Department, and Engineer Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Head of the Department of Civil Aviation in Ras Al Khaimah, Sheikh Abdul Malik bin Kayed Al Qasimi, Special Advisor to His Highness the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud Al Qasimi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Kayed Al Qasimi, Deputy Head of the Department of Economic Development, and Sheikh Saqr bin Khalid bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Chairman The Board of Directors of the Union Cement Company, a number of sheikhs and a large gathering of worshipers.

The body of Sheikh Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi was buried in the Al-Qawasim cemetery in the Al-Uraibi area. The burial ceremony was attended by the brothers of the deceased, his sons, sheikhs, and a large group of citizens.

Condolences will be accepted at the home of the deceased, located in the Al-Dhisa area in Ras Al Khaimah.
