The postponement of the electronic Olympic Games in Riyadh to 2027


The first edition of the Electronic Olympic Games, which was scheduled in Riyadh this year, was postponed to 2027, according to the International Olympic Committee announced on Tuesday.

The International Olympic Committee said in a statement, “The first edition of the electronic Olympic Games, which is a historical event in the world of electronic sports and within the Olympic movement, will be held in 2027 in Riyadh in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”

“The road to games with the first Olympic competitions will actually start this year.”

The announcement came after the meeting held by Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al -Faisal, head of the Saudi Olympic Committee and Barlaliya, with the head of the German Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach in Riyadh.

The postponement of the games comes for two years to give the opportunity to the participants from all countries of the world, to go through an upward experience, in preparation for the establishment of the first event of its kind historically in 2027 in the Kingdom.

In recent years, the International Olympic Committee has been keen to integrate electronic sports into the Olympic movement, and decided before the start of the Summer Olympic Games in Paris, launching a completely separate event on classic games.
