His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, issued a federal decree appointing Dr. Tariq Ahmed Mohammed Al Ameri as President of the Emirates International Aid Agency, and appointing Sultan Mohammed Saeed Al Shamsi as Vice President of the Agency.
Dr. Tariq Al Ameri holds the position of Director of the Office of Development Affairs in the Presidential Office, and has distinguished career experience in the fields of social development, humanitarian work, developmental affairs, security, justice, strategic planning, and sustainable development, where he worked as Executive Director at the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority, then as Executive Director in the General Secretariat of the Executive Council. for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and then as Executive Director at the Ministry of Interior.
Al Ameri earned a PhD in Process Systems Engineering from Imperial College University – the United Kingdom, an MBA from Abu Dhabi University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and Process Systems Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis – the United States of America.
Sultan Al Shamsi has three decades of experience in the field of foreign aid, humanitarian and development affairs, and early recovery and stabilization programs, where he held the position of Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development Affairs and International Organizations, and Assistant Undersecretary for Development Affairs in the Ministry of Development and International Cooperation (at that time). He also held the position Executive Director of the State Foreign Aid Coordination Office.
Al Shamsi holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration and Information Systems from the University of Southern Queensland, and a Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems from the UAE University.
It is noteworthy that the Emirates International Aid Agency was recently established, with the aim of implementing foreign aid programs, planning, supervision and implementation, following up on official government support, development projects and initiatives, early recovery and stabilization programmes, and implementing humanitarian and relief response plans.
