The national weightlifting team won 19 colorful medals in the Arab Championship and the Qatar Cup, which were hosted by Doha and were held as a double championship for adults, and their competition concluded the day before yesterday.

The team achieved six gold medals, through Ali Nasser Al-Humairi, in the 102 kg competitions for youth and juniors at the Arab Championship in the snatch, clean and total, for both categories. At the adult level, Moayed Al-Najjar achieved six medals, “snatch, clean and total”, with three silver in the Arabic championship, and three bronze in the Cup. Qatar.

On the last day of the tournament, the women’s team won four bronze medals, including one for Mai Al-Madani (total) in the 64 kg weight, and three for Bashaer Al-Ahbabi in the 55 kg weight after excelling in the snatch, clean and total, in addition to three bronze medals for Thunayan Omar Al-Hamoudi in the 49 kg weight. For juniors, after topping the snatch, clean and total.

The team also won four cups for fifth place for women, fifth place for youth and sixth place for juniors in the Arab Championship, in addition to the cup for fifth place for women in the Qatar Cup competitions.

Yesterday, the team’s delegation returned to the country. It was headed by the Executive Director of the Federation, Mohammed Al Naqbi, and included Khalifa Al Zaabi, Director of Support Services at the Abu Dhabi Club, Abdul Rahman Abdul Rahman, the team’s coach, and nine players, including seven players from the Abu Dhabi Weightlifting Club, namely: Moayed Al Najjar (above 109 kg) men, Zayed Al Nuaimi (55 kg) youth, and junior Thunayan Al Hamoudi (49 kg). (kg), Zayed Al-Amri (55 kg), Saeed Kassab (81 kg), Ali Al-Humairi (102 kg), and Zahra Al-Hashemi (49 kg), along with Weightlifting Federation athletes Bashaer Al-Ahbabi (55 kg) and Mai Al-Madani (64 kg).

The male and female medalists expressed their happiness at their rise to the podium, and Ali Al-Humairi said: “I am proud to embrace gold in my first participation in a tournament ever, and this achievement represents an incentive for us to hone our talent further, and look forward to new successes at the continental and international levels in the near future.” .
