Under the directives of Hamdan bin Mohammed, “Government Games” launches its new identity as “Dubai Games”


Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai, the Organizing Committee for the Government Games announced the launch of the new identity for the tournament under the name “Dubai Games”, while continuing to enhance its presence in its sixth session. This reflects the constant development of the tournament, its continuous expansion, and the increase in the number of participants until it has become a global sporting challenge.

The Dubai Games, with its new identity, reinforce the spirit of competition to achieve the best in various fields, and culminate what it has achieved over the past five editions, to consolidate the position of the city where the world meets.

This year, the international event is witnessing a wider turnout of participants from federal and local government institutions and community groups, including the young people category and the international cities category.

Marwan bin Issa, Director of the Dubai Games, said that the Dubai Games competitions, “formerly the Government Games,” have continued in Dubai over the past years to expand in the categories of challenges and participants they include, attracting teams from cities and government agencies and attracting diverse societal groups, embodying Dubai’s leadership in the concept of competitiveness. Which was established by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, “may God protect him”, as a culture and practice, and under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al. Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Chairman of the Executive Council, gave these competitions a new identity bearing the name Dubai, and reflects the prestigious position that the city has now enjoyed within various sectors, especially the sports sector, with its high-level infrastructure, which Dubai has become. It is a forum for major international and sporting events.”

The new name reflects; “Dubai Games”, the level of development that the tournament has reached over the past five sessions, in cooperation with a number of strategic partners and sponsors from the government and private sectors.

The new identity of the Dubai Games represents the international dimension it has gained over years of success in attracting broad qualitative participation as a global celebration from various federal and local government institutions, international cities, and societal segments.

The sixth session of the Dubai Games, which will begin next month, will witness an increase in the number of participants within its categories at the team, city and community levels, with the official competitions for the tournament starting on February 20 and over its four days in Festival City in Dubai, while the start will be by organizing the Junior Challenge on February 8. From the same month in Damac Hills.

The tournament activities will include a selection of exceptional challenges that require mental and physical strength from participants and include a series of obstacles and challenges designed to test and develop the physical and mental capabilities of local and international teams.
