His Highness stressed that “the people of the Emirates are the most important capabilities of the future, and we have directed to establish a strong organizational and material infrastructure to build the future and invest in national cadres. To achieve sustainability in the field of anticipating the future,” His Highness stressed “the importance of moving beyond stereotypical and traditional methods and means of thinking to future methods.”

It is a short-, medium- and long-term approach to work towards a future that raises the quality of life and the level of well-being and happiness of citizens, and achieves the highest interests of our state and our people.
His Highness said, “The aim of this strategy is to root the idea of the future government in government work, and to unify efforts and mobilize energies towards it within a clear framework that makes it easier for everyone to deal with the future, within specific axes and a clear method of work. The new future strategy comes to achieve the vision of His Highness the President and his deputy, so that the largest ministerial change in the government structure that was announced last February is a major step in forming the government of the future that seeks to embrace all new global opportunities and anticipate the upcoming economic and social challenges.
The strategy includes building future models for the health, education, social, development and environmental sectors, and harmonizing current government policies, in addition to building national capabilities in the field of anticipating the future and establishing international partnerships, developing specialized laboratories and launching research reports on the future of various sectors in the country.

The role of ministers is focused on leading foresight efforts through strategic thinking, guidance, and alignment with future trends in a strategic manner, following up on their implementation, developing studies and scenarios for the future of their sectors, and drawing up plans and policies based on them.
The ministers will also work to develop studies and reports on the future of the sectors and the entities they head and discuss them in a session dedicated to the future in the Council of Ministers, in addition to coordinating with local governments and the private sector regarding the future of the sectors.
The main performance indicator in the field of the future will be the development of plans, initiatives and policies that are proposed based on foresight and scientific study of the future and its trends. Ministers will also play an important role in their representation of the state and the government and its initiatives for the future, each in his field.
The Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and the Future will assume the role of supporter and coordinator of efforts to anticipate the future, support the future efforts, initiatives, projects and policies of the entities and follow up on their implementation, and work on future strategic studies and reports that will enable the entities to work on anticipating the future effectively and harmoniously, and follow up on the government’s plans, programmes, policies and legislation with future trends.

The UAE’s strategy for the future focuses on topics that include sectors of the future of human capital, youth, the future of technology, smart systems, the future of sustainability and the environment, climate change, the future of infrastructure, transportation, the future of health, the future of education, the future of sustainable development, and the future of a positive and happy living environment. The future of energy, the future of the economy, economic and commercial security, the future of financial resources, the future of government, government services, the future of international and political relations, the future of water and food security, and the future of electronic security.
Based on the UAE strategy for anticipating the future, it was revealed that new tasks will be added to the federal government called “Strategy and Future Management,” as this position will be in every federal government entity. Thus, the UAE government will be the first to create the position of “Director of Strategy and Future.”
Regarding the axis of future capabilities, the leadership directed the establishment of a strong organizational and material infrastructure to build the future and invest in national cadres.
The government will build capabilities to achieve sustainability in the field of future forecasting by including the basics of future forecasting in a simplified manner in the educational curricula of schools, and through national capacity building missions in the field of the future, launching tools specifically designed for the UAE government, and teaching future specializations in national universities.
Through the Future Destination axis, the ministers will lead the transformation of their ministries into a model for future ministries, represent the country as ambassadors for the future, and highlight its future leadership in various fields.
Through the Future Destination axis, the government will work to enhance the UAE’s position as a leading global destination for the sustainable future through future initiatives and thought platforms.
