National football team player, Yahya Al-Ghassani, expressed his confidence in Al-Abyad’s qualification for the second round of the Gulf 26.

Al-Abyad had suffered an unexpected loss against Kuwait with an unanswered goal, leaving its score at one point.

He said in statements after the match, “We have to hold our heads up, forget the loss to Kuwait, and think about our next match against Oman. I have no doubts about winning that match and qualifying for the semi-finals.”

He added: “We should not dwell too much on the mistakes that occurred in the Kuwait match. These are things that happen in football. Players need moral support, because the chances of qualifying are still in our hands.”

He pointed out: “Everyone who followed our match against Al-Azraq saw how we had an advantage in terms of possession and reaching the opponent’s goal, but luck clearly abandoned us, and if there had been superiority in finishing the attacks, the result could have changed.”

He concluded by saying: “We apologize to the fans who were in Kuwait and to our fans in the Emirates, and we promise them reconciliation next Friday.”
