13 information about the conditions for replacing the vehicle driving license in Dubai

Citizens and residents of the holders of the Emirate of Dubai who hold a driver’s license from the countries recognized with their leadership licenses, which number 43 countries, can replace their licenses by following a number of procedures.

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority summarized 13 information related to repeated questions posed by customers of drivers about replacing driving licenses, which can be identified at the end of this report.

The license replacement procedures include providing a number of required documents that include the original driving license for the excluded countries and a copy of it with the provision of legal translation of the license in the event that it is issued without the Arabic or English language, in addition to the original Emirati identity in effect and as a result of an electronic consideration examination.

The conditions and conditions that are subject to the replacement of a driver’s license issued by the countries recognized by their licenses include the attendance of the customer personally to the happiness centers of customers or those who are lawful to the centers. Conditions stipulate that the driver’s license cannot be replaced for double passports holders if they are from the countries that are not authorized to replace them, and the residence is proven in the passport issued by one of those countries.

The following is the most important information that the authority confirmed about replacing vehicle driving licenses:

• The customer has the right to replace the driver’s license issued by countries recognized by its leadership license in Dubai, even if the residence is issued by another emirate, but provided that the company in which he works is owned by a branch in Dubai and that the customer works for it.
• The customer from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries has the right to lead in Dubai if he is on a visit, but if he lives and works in Dubai, he must replace his license.

• The customer can drive light vehicles and motorcycles if he has a driving license from the list of countries excluded or from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in the event that he holds a visit visa, even if his nationality is not from the GCC states and is not from the aforementioned countries within the exceptions.

• The customer cannot lead with the US leadership license even if he is an American citizen and holds an investment visa, enters the country and leaves it constantly.

• The customer does not drive in Dubai, using a driver’s license issued by his exception country, as long as he does not have a valid residence even if he holds an important visa, service visa or multiple visas.

• If the customer has the two printed passports on the passport of the country that is not subject to exception, it is not allowed to be replaced, and he must review the institutes of learning to drive vehicles to open a training file.

• The customer who holds a driver’s license and a passport from the United Kingdom and has a visit visa, is not possible to lead his registered vehicle according to a Saudi board number inside the Emirates, except in one case when crossing the border to the Emirates with that vehicle coming from Saudi Arabia.

• If the customer owns a driver’s license from the Emirate of Dubai and went to one of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries to replace it in that country, and then he wanted to return to Dubai under residence, he can recover the license, whatever nationality, as long as the license that was replaced from Dubai, and his ability to retrieve it after highlighting Emirati identity is valid

• The customer can transfer his license from the state of New Mexico of the United States of America, as it is a mandate from the American states.

• The customer cannot replace the license issued by Puerto Rico.

• The customer cannot replace the Canadian license if his license is from the G1 and G2 levels

• Holders of residencies from the other Emirates can replace the driver’s license from the emirate from which the residence was issued if they carry leadership licenses issued by the excluded countries.

• Heavy truck driving licenses and heavy mechanical devices can be replaced if the customer’s nationality is among the countries that allow the replacement of driving licenses for all items.
