Zayed University has revealed that it had completed 678 scientific research during the year 2024, in a serious step that enhances the university’s trends in expanding the scope of scientific research in all fields, while currently working on developing research strategies, focusing on five specializations, including: technology, innovation, language and Arabic culture , Health and wellness, general policy, business and social sciences.

In detail, the Assistant Vice President of Zayed University for Research, Professor Philip Hamil, told «Emirates Today» that the university’s plans focus on the diversity of scientific research to include all fields, and thanks to the diversity of Zayed University colleges, which include specializations, such as: computing, technology, business, and health , Natural sciences, creative arts, humanities and social sciences, the effects of scientific research extend to several sectors, as this research contributed to supporting government policies, enhancing cultural and creative life in the Emirates, protecting national heritage, and pushing a knowledge -based economy.

On the budget allocated to scientific research at the university, and how to distribute it, he explained that the university is invested greatly in supporting scientific research, which contributed to the development of a distinct research portfolio since 2019, explaining that the university produced 3879 scientific publications, 60% of which are among the highest of 25% of the magazines. The most martyred, and another 24% in the following category, as this performance reflects remarkable progress, and places the university in the ranks of universities with dense research activities.

Professor Philip Hamil presented examples of scientific research that caused a cultural influence in Emirati society, most notably the Magan boat project in cooperation between Zayed University, New York University Abu Dhabi and the Zayed National Museum, and focused on reviving the naval heritage of the Emirates, and will be part of a central exhibition in the museum.

He pointed out that the university is currently working on developing research strategies, focusing on five specializations, which include: technology, innovation, Arabic language and culture, health and wellness, general policy, business and social sciences.

He explained that these fields are characterized by strategic importance, and are in line with national goals, including “We are 2031”, and these fields are strengthened by focusing on sustainability and artificial intelligence applications through various disciplines.

He pointed out that the Zayed Institute for the Arabic language developed the technique of “Smart Diagnosis of Arabic Reading” (SARD) using artificial intelligence to diagnose indisputment in the Arabic language, explaining that this technology is a social innovation initiative, where patent requests were submitted to protect it and make it available for free to society.

In response to a question about the future plans for the scientific research sector at Zayed University, he stated that the university is working on developing the finishing touches of its new strategy for research, innovation and influence, which was developed in consultation with all concerned, as future plans simulate five paths of the scientific research sector at the university.

He said: «Development paths include enhancing the quality of research and expanding the scope of its impact, developing specialized fields of scientific depth to face global and local challenges, expanding graduate studies programs to prepare a new generation of Emirati scientists, which supports the knowledge economy, and enhancing cooperation with governmental and private sectors to produce research that solve problems Real and achieves societal benefit, “stressing that the university focuses on strengthening its role as a leading research institution that effectively contributes to achieving the future UAE aspirations.
