Al Jazira achieved a valuable victory with three goals to one against its guest Al Bataeh, in the match that brought them together yesterday, at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium, in the first leg of the preliminary round of the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Football Cup (Professional League Cup), thus cutting the “Pride of Abu Dhabi” halfway towards reaching the second round before the second leg on September 8.

The home team opened the scoring through Ramon Merez in the sixth minute, and his teammate Neeskens Kebano added the second goal (26), and Al Bataeh reduced the deficit through Anatoly Bertrend (33), but Al Jazira returned and scored the third goal (64) through its player Mamadou Kloballi, who confirmed the result of the victory.

In the other match, which was held at the same time, Al Ain achieved a bombshell victory with a score of 3-2 over its host Kalba. The “Boss” was the first to score through Draman Kumari (19), and his teammate Laba Kodjo strengthened it with the second goal (45) that ended the first half.

Newcomer Sekou Baba left his mark with “Al-Zaeem” by scoring the third goal (66), before the home team woke up late by scoring two goals by Caio Germano (79) and Shahriar Maghanlou (85), thus keeping their hopes of qualifying alive before the second leg.
