Bur Dubai Police Station was able to solve the mystery of all traffic reports over a period of eight years, despite the difficulty of some cases, including an accident committed by a person late at night, who fled the scene, leaving the driver of the other vehicle injured, and neither the cameras nor the victim were able to monitor data. The car, its type, or its plate numbers.

The director of Bur Dubai Police Station, Major General Abdullah Khadem bin Suroor Al-Masam, told Emirates Al-Youm that the work team used a mathematical equation to find the culprit vehicle from among more than 900 cars that passed during the time of the accident, and it was found that its driver tried to deceive the police, and that The car is registered in the name of his wife, who initially colluded with him.

He explained that the accident occurred at three o’clock in the morning, when a taxi was subjected to a violent collision from behind on Al Garhoud Bridge, followed by the perpetrator fleeing the scene without the victim being able to see him or record the car’s numbers or any information indicating its specifications.

He pointed out that by referring to the cameras in the taxi, it was found that it was completely damaged due to the accident, and the closest surveillance cameras were at the “Salik” gate. He pointed out that the work team resorted to conducting a mathematical equation based on measuring time and distance to monitor the vehicles that passed under the gate at the time of the accident.

He continued that the result represented another challenge, as it was proven that about 900 cars passed in the seconds following the accident, and then the team resorted to determining the color closest to the suspected car according to the color of the paint it left on the taxi, until it was able to arrive at its color and type.

He explained that in light of the severity of the collision, the team expected that the driver would resort to repairing his car, and he would not be able to do so without obtaining a traffic report, so the system was verified and it was found that he went to another police station, and claimed that the car collided with a solid object, so he obtained a report of the trick, and then He left it at a repair shop in the Emirate of Sharjah.

Al-Mu’assam said that the work team was not satisfied with that, but rather checked the identity of the car’s owner and discovered that she was a Gulf woman, but he suspected that she was not the perpetrator of the accident, as it is difficult for a person of her age to do that and escape.

Upon questioning her at first, she insisted that she was the one who committed the accident, and upon questioning her husband, he adhered to the same statements, but when confronted with the evidence, he retracted his position and admitted that he had committed the accident, and that he was afraid and left without thinking about the consequences of his behavior. They were referred to the Public Prosecution and from there to the judiciary, which convicted them. In the case.

He added that among the traffic reports that the center’s work team dealt with was an incident of hitting a motorcycle, causing it to catch fire, and the responsible driver fleeing the scene.

He pointed out that the accident occurred in the Al-Jaddaf area at one of the intersections, while the cyclist was traveling on his normal route, when a speeding vehicle crossed the intersection and collided with the bike, which caught fire in its place. Instead of stopping and providing assistance or checking on the cyclist, the perpetrator fled.

He reported that the accused was arrested in less than an hour and referred to the judiciary. He justified his position by saying that he was afraid when he saw the accident and did not make a good decision, and he was convicted and punished by the court.

Al-Mu’assam stressed that fleeing the accident site is disgraceful, illegal, and immoral behavior, as Article 49, Section Five, of the Federal Law on Traffic and its amendments punishes with imprisonment and a fine of no less than 20,000 dirhams, or one of the two penalties for anyone who does not stop without an acceptable excuse at a stop. A traffic accident occurred by him or against him, resulting in injuries to people.

While the amendments to be implemented in the new draft traffic law include severe penalties for those involved in escaping from the accident site, and failure to provide the necessary information, up to one year in prison and a fine that may reach 100,000 dirhams, or one of the two penalties.

Al-Mu’assam pointed out that the center’s traffic accident investigators have distinguished technical expertise, which contributed to uncovering the mystery of several other accidents. They played an important role in determining whether they were natural accidents or had criminal dimensions, and they were able to identify those responsible and take legal measures against them.

Other accidents dealt with by the center’s traffic investigation team included running over a user of an electric bicycle (scooter) who was traveling in the correct lane, and the driver of the vehicle causing the accident fleeing from the scene, which resulted in the user of the “electric bicycle” being seriously injured and subsequently transported to the hospital.

By searching and investigating the vehicle that caused the accident, the work team found it in a parking lot approximately 2.8 kilometers from the accident site without the driver present in it. The front of the car was damaged and its windshield was shattered.

The crime scene team from the General Department of Forensic Evidence and Criminology immediately worked to scan the fingerprints from the car, and during its search, a rental contract registered in the name of an Asian person was found. Through follow-up and research, it became clear that this person rented it and was accompanied by a woman, and after he caused the accident. He stopped her and fled using a taxi. He was later arrested and referred to the judiciary.

The center also dealt with a report from a woman who reported that her car was involved in an accident that was hit from behind by a “luxury” car. Its driver fled without being able to register his license plate number, but she specified the type of car, and there were no cameras in the area to document what happened.

Accident investigators, in coordination with the General Department of Operations and the General Department of Traffic, and after circulating its descriptions and contacting the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority to determine the type and source of the luxury car, were able to determine that it was a rented vehicle. Upon reviewing the office’s owner, the team found that the person who rented it returned it on the day of the accident, claiming that he He collided with a sidewalk and registered a traffic report that was contrary to the truth.

Al-Masam reported that the percentage of known traffic cases recorded by the center over a period of about eight years amounted to 100%, pointing out that there is great interest in traffic safety in the center’s jurisdiction area, which revolves around the main highways, in addition to its diversity between residential, industrial, commercial and tourist.

Major General Abdullah Al-Masam:

. The perpetrator’s wife colluded with him, and the accused defrauded him to obtain a traffic report.

. The amendments to be implemented in the new draft traffic law include punishing those involved in fleeing the scene of the accident and not providing the necessary information, with one year imprisonment and a fine that may reach 100,000 dirhams.
