Today in the city of Al Dhaid, Sharjah, the Minister of Climate Change and Environment, Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahhak, witnessed the official opening of the activities of the second edition of the Al Dhaid Agricultural Exhibition – the first event of its kind in the region.

The exhibition – which lasts for four days – is organized by the Sharjah Expo Center with the support of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and in cooperation with the Sharjah Department of Agriculture and Livestock, and witnesses the participation of a number of ministries and government agencies, more than 40 companies operating in the agricultural and livestock sector, and a number of farmers.

Amna Al Dahhak confirmed that “Al Dhaid Agricultural Exhibition”, alongside the major agricultural and food projects in the Emirate of Sharjah, reflects the wise vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, which aims to provide all means of support to farmers and encourage them to launch major agricultural projects and contribute It is effective in promoting these products, which reflects the distinction of the Emirate of Sharjah as an active and vital player in enhancing the sustainable national food security of the UAE.

She pointed out that the projects of the Emirate of Sharjah during the era of His Highness represent a success story and a national model that reflects our ability to bring about a real transformation in our food security system and meet the country’s needs for strategic crops.

She said: “Through the Al Dhaid Agricultural Exhibition and other exhibitions and projects, we in the UAE are keen to empower national farmers and promote their distinguished products in all the country’s markets, as we have a clear vision towards providing all means of support to farmers so that they can contribute more to achieving the goals of the National Food Security Strategy 2051.” Our endeavors aim to achieve this goal by increasing local production of food and agricultural products to reduce dependence on imports from abroad.”

She added: “Through our initiatives and the efforts of various stakeholders in the country, the coming period will witness a radical transformation in strengthening the agriculture and food sector, as we will attach special importance to providing support and training programs for citizen farmers, and helping to launch more agricultural projects based on modern, climate-smart agricultural technology.” Especially through the National Agricultural Center, which is one of the most important initiatives of the National Program (Plant the Emirates).”

Following the official opening ceremony, the attendees toured the exhibition halls and learned about the modern technologies and equipment offered by exhibitors and companies operating in the sector, and innovative solutions in the agricultural field, including methods for developing the cultivation of wheat and grains, in addition to modern technology in hydroponic and vertical agriculture, the latest irrigation and gardening techniques, and the finest types of fertilizers. The exhibition constitutes an exemplary platform for exchanging knowledge and experiences between participating parties and farmers, providing valuable opportunities to communicate with experts and specialists in the sector, especially as it is characterized by the broad participation of many companies operating in the agricultural sector and covers all sectors of agricultural business, aquaculture, ornamental plant cultivation, horticulture, and agricultural mechanization. And agricultural equipment and supplies, agricultural financing, banks, advisory services, training, beekeeping supplies, and food processing and packaging, which constitutes one comprehensive platform to showcase the latest innovations to decision-makers and senior workers in the sector.

Over the course of four days, the event provides an integrated presentation of modern technologies and new innovations in the agricultural sector, with a special focus on the cultivation of wheat and grains in the region, and highlighting the importance of hydroponic and vertical agriculture as innovative solutions to rationalize water consumption and improve productivity, in addition to smart irrigation systems and modern methods of gardening. The exhibition also displays a variety of environmentally friendly organic fertilizers.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, said that the launch of the Al Dhaid Agricultural Exhibition comes as the agricultural sector in the UAE is witnessing rapid growth that reflects the country’s commitment to achieving food security and sustainable development, in light of the increase in the volume of agricultural production due to encouraging the adoption of the latest agricultural technologies and interest in With sustainable agriculture and the contribution of investments in agricultural infrastructure and the development of advanced systems and technologies in this field, which achieve qualitative leaps in the quantity and quality of agricultural crops, such that the impact of this development extended to the sector’s contribution to the gross domestic product, diversifying sources of income, and providing more job opportunities, indicating The agricultural sector in the UAE and in the Emirate of Sharjah in particular received direct attention from His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, through his directives to increase care for agricultural projects and increase the efficiency of agricultural production in the emirate, in addition to enhancing Ambitious national initiatives aimed at supporting the National Strategy for Food Security 2051, raising the rate of self-sufficiency in agricultural crops, and improving the economic return of the sector.
