The Integrated Transport Center in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, affiliated with the Department of Municipalities and Transport, warned vehicle owners against not adhering to the laws related to the public parking management system (mawaqif) at all times, especially parking vehicles randomly or parking in prohibited places, stressing the necessity of always parking the vehicle correctly in Parking spaces.
He pointed out that residents’ parking permits are currently being renewed via the website.
The Center confirmed that the decision issued by the Department of Municipalities and Transport, approximately a month and a half ago, to exempt vehicle owners from “parking” fees until further notice, does not mean allowing random parking or committing violations of the parking system.
On March 30, the Department of Municipalities and Transport announced that users of public parking lots in various parts of the emirate would be exempted from “parking” fees for a period of three weeks. Then, on April 15, it decided to extend the period of exemption from paying the fees until further notice, in line with The precautionary measures taken by the state to confront the spread of the new Corona virus (Covid-19).
The center stated that it had recently been observed that some drivers stopped their vehicles randomly, or parked behind other vehicles, and double-used the parking lot, and parked in front of fire nozzles, or parked in the parking lots designated for vehicles of people of determination, in addition to parking visitors’ vehicles in the parking lots designated for residents, warning that… Committing any of these violations may obstruct traffic or cause accidents, expose others to danger, and distort the cultural appearance of the city, calling for the use of public parking according to entitlement without harming the interests of others, especially Resident parking permit holders.
He stressed that the inspectors affiliated with the Parking Department are continuing their inspection tours and campaigns in various sectors to ensure full compliance with the conditions and rules of “Mawaqif,” pointing out that organizing and managing public parking brings many traffic, societal, economic, and environmental benefits, including achieving optimal use of the available parking. Reducing the time of searching for a parking spot, eliminating the phenomenon of random parking, and enhancing the flow of traffic.
The Center also called on non-compliant vehicle owners to fully adhere to the controls and rules regulating public parking in Abu Dhabi.
