Al-Ahly seeks revenge on Zamalek in a “Super Final” in Abu Dhabi

At nine in the evening today, Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi will host the final match of the Egyptian Super Championship between Al-Ahly and Zamalek.

The famous “Egyptian Derby” comes less than a month after their confrontation in the African Super Cup final, which Zamalek won on penalties.

The two teams qualified for the final after Zamalek overcame Pyramids on penalties, while Al-Ahly narrowly defeated Ceramica 2-1.

The two poles of Egyptian football will play their fifth confrontation for the Super Cup title in the Emirates, out of eight confrontations that brought them together for the championship title, and each of them won twice, as Zamalek won the title on both occasions thanks to penalty kicks, while Al-Ahly won the title in the regular time of the match by winning 3-2 and 2. -0.

Al-Ahly has a clear advantage in the total number of times it has won the Super Cup over its rival, Zamalek, as it won on five occasions, while its competitor won three times.

The two teams enter the match this time amid different circumstances for both teams, as the white shirts are experiencing the euphoria of winning the African Super Cup, and aspire to add another title this season, at the expense of their traditional rivals.

Al-Ahly will be under pressure to win the title and take revenge for the loss of the African Super Cup, seeking to regain the confidence of its fans again after the major shock that occurred in their relationship, after the recent loss to Zamalek.

But the biggest challenge will be facing Swiss coach Marcel Kohler, who is now required to stop the superiority of Zamalek coach, Portuguese Jose Gomez, in three previous confrontations.

Although Kohler won his first match against Gomez in the Egypt Cup final, the advantage in terms of match management was in the Portuguese coach’s favor.

Koller then returned to lose to Gomez in the Egyptian League during the season ending 1-2, and his loss was repeated in the African Super Cup competition.

Al-Ahly has an advantage in terms of its formation, as it enters the match with strong force, and will only be absent from its striker Mahmoud Abdel Moneim (Kahraba), who returned to Cairo due to an administrative penalty imposed on him for his objection to not playing against Ceramica, in addition to Moroccan defender Ashraf Dari, while the team will rely on Its star is Hussein Al-Shahat, who will start in the starting lineup, and midfielder Imam Ashour.

In light of these changes, it is expected that Zamalek coach, Jose Gomez, will make several changes to his team’s lineup for the Al-Ahly match, with Omar Gaber returning to the right-back position, and fielding player Mohamed Shehata in the midfield, while fielding Polish Konrad Michalak in the left wing position, in addition to… The main force led by Ahmed Sayed (Zizou) and veteran Abdullah Al-Saeed.

This confrontation will be preceded by a meeting that will bring together Pyramids and Ceramica to determine the third place holder at 17:05.
