The “Union Cooperative” announced the approval of the new statute, which includes updates on the conditions and mechanism of obtaining membership, starting from tomorrow, Monday, April 14, 2025, as this came after the approval of the General Assembly during its 43rd meeting held on March 18, 2025, and the accreditation of the competent authority of the Dubai Economy and Tourism Department.
The new amendments include updated conditions for membership, among which is that the applicant is one of the citizens of the UAE from any emirate, and enjoys legal eligibility, and that he is at least 18 years old if he is a natural person.
The “cooperative” explained that the mechanism for membership has become available digitally, through the application of the Dubai Financial Market for all citizens of the emirates of the country, with the aim of simplifying procedures and enhancing easy access, provided that the applicant attaches a copy of the Emirati identity within the request.
“The new amendments to the conditions and mechanism of membership represent a positive and important step towards enhancing the principles of governance and expanding the scope of participation by citizens, in line with the (cooperative) vision in consolidating transparency and developing institutional performance”, pointing out that the “cooperative” aims through these updates to facilitate the procedures for joining it, and enabling the shareholders to benefit from its advantages within A comprehensive organizational framework.
