Today, Beirut Port received an aid ship from the UAE carrying 2,000 tons of urgent relief supplies for the brotherly Lebanese people, as part of the “The UAE is with you, Lebanon” campaign, which was launched at the beginning of this October.
This ship comes within the framework of the UAE’s continued humanitarian support for the Lebanese brothers in light of the current crisis, in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him,” and the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister. Head of the Presidential Office, under the supervision of His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office for Development Affairs and Families of Martyrs, Chairman of the International Humanitarian Affairs Council.
In this regard, Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development Affairs and International Organizations and Member of the International Humanitarian Affairs Council, said: “This new aid comes in the context of the UAE’s keenness to stand with the brotherly Lebanese people in these difficult circumstances, as the ship carried 1,000 tons of food supplies.” And 1,000 tons of various shelter supplies, bringing the amount of aid sent so far to 2,610 tons.
He added: “These tireless efforts to strengthen the emergency humanitarian response reflect the keen interest of the wise leadership in providing the needs of the brotherly Lebanese people, which embody the lofty and fraternal humanitarian values, calling for solidarity, cooperation, synergy and solidarity with the Lebanese brothers.”
It is worth noting that, within the framework of supporting the brotherly Lebanese people in light of the current circumstances, and under the directives of His Highness the President of the State, “may God protect him,” the UAE launched on October 4th the “The UAE is with you, Lebanon” campaign to support the Lebanese brothers, and sent 14 planes, some of which were in cooperation with the Health Organization. Global, the United Nations Children’s Fund – UNICEF, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, as well as the “The UAE is with you, Lebanon” campaign, which collected 1,300 tons of relief supplies, with the participation of 24 Emirati donor institutions and thousands of volunteers in a sincere expression of the approach The UAE in solidarity and humanitarian cooperation.
