The director of the national basketball teams, Rashid Al-Naqbi, revealed that the Asian Confederation decided to move the national team’s match with its Lebanese counterpart, scheduled for next November 22, to the Emirates, within the second window of the final stage of the Asian qualifiers for the 2025 Asian Cup.

Al-Naqbi told Emirates Al-Youm: “The Asian Confederation decided to move the match between the Emirati and Lebanese teams to Dubai, and decided to hold the return match in Beirut next February, in light of the prevailing circumstances taking place in the region.”

He explained: “Serbia was decided to set up the external camp between the 7th and 18th of next November, and it was scheduled, according to the prior preparation map for (Al-Abyad), to go immediately after the end of the Serbia camp to Beirut to set up a new camp before meeting the Lebanese national team, but the AFC decision pushed the technical staff To amend his plan, by giving the players a day of rest upon their return from Serbia, and to gather again to put the final touches before the match with the “Cedar National Team” on February 22 in Dubai.

He added: “According to the same preparation map, the team will gather on the second of next November in the Sharjah Club hall, with the absence of Shabab Al-Ahly players associated with their clubs in the Bahraini Al-Ahly match in Manama scheduled for the fifth of the same month, within the second rounds of the preliminary round of the third edition of the championship. Super West Asia for the Gulf region, provided that Shabab Al-Ahly members join the national team when heading to the camp.”

Al-Naqbi pointed out the importance of the Serbian camp in raising the readiness of “Al-Abyad” and completing the ranks of its members, and said: “During the first window of the final stage of the Asian qualifiers last February, the team suffered impressive absences of many of its basic elements, and this had a major impact on Al-Abyad’s exposure to a difficult loss in the Their confrontations against the Bahrain and Syrian national teams scored (64-70) and (63-78) respectively, and we in the Serbian camp are counting on the completion of the national team’s ranks for the first time, and benefiting from the friendly experiences that the camp includes in achieving the required readiness before the kick-off of the second window.”

He concluded: “We look forward to achieving positive results in the next two matches, whether against Lebanon or against Bahrain again on November 25, with the ambition of restoring (Al-Abyad) to its fortunes, before entering the third and final window next February, and continuing the strategy set by the Football Association in the return of (Emirates Basket). ) to join the top Asian teams in the classification level (A), which allows exclusively participation in continental tournaments and competition for qualifying tickets to the World Cup tournaments.

Al-Wasl achieved its first victory in the Basketball League for the current season, defeating its guest, Al-Wahda, with a score of (86-61), the day before yesterday, for the first round of the first leg of the preliminary round.

Al-Wasl prevailed in the first and second quarters (26-15 and 29-13), while Al-Wahda failed to return the match despite its players gaining the advantage in the third and fourth quarters (18-13 and 15-8).

The victory gave Al-Wasl team a partnership in third place in the general standings with Al-Bataeh, with three points each, one point behind Shabab Al-Ahly, Al-Nasr and Sharjah, who shared the lead, and Al-Wahda’s loss led to it remaining a partner with Al-Jazira and Al-Dhafra in last place with two points each. .
