The Dubai Civil Aviation Authority signed a memorandum of understanding with Kita Drone, with the aim of enhancing joint cooperation in the field of delivery using drones, with a focus on ensuring the highest levels of security and safety in the airspace of Dubai, in line with local laws and regulations and international standards.
A statement issued yesterday stated that both the Director-General of the Authority, Muhammad Abdullah Linjawi, and the President of Kita Drone, Dr. Linyan Mao, signed the memorandum, indicating that areas of cooperation include evaluating and approving areas for operating drones, with a focus on three basic axes. These are: assessing the infrastructure requirements for areas designated for drones, reviewing the airspace requirements for these areas, and assessing the security and safety needs of the airspace in delivery operations using drones, in a way that enhances coordination of use. Efficient and safe drone deliveries.
Linjawi said: “This cooperation confirms the Authority’s commitment to the directives of the wise leadership to enable delivery by drones and provide an innovative infrastructure that enables companies to test their new solutions within a safe and exemplary environment.”
He added: “We are constantly keen to develop regulations that focus on providing the appropriate environment for this type of emerging technology in the aviation sector, while always being keen to enhance safety and security standards for the airspace of the Emirate of Dubai and ensuring the regulation of operational operations in cooperation with various relevant government agencies.”
For his part, Mao said: “The partnership with the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority is a sign of long-term cooperation between the two parties, and thanks to the Authority’s support, (Kita Drone) will be able to expand its business by establishing routes throughout the Emirate of Dubai and providing more services.”
