The Federal Tax Authority has renewed its call for resident legal persons with licenses issued in June (regardless of the year of issuance of the license) to submit corporate tax registration applications no later than August 31, 2024, to avoid administrative fines.

The Authority stressed the need to adhere to the deadlines specified in its Resolution No. (3) of 2024 regarding the specified period for registering persons subject to corporate and business tax for the purposes of Federal Decree-Law No. (47) of 2022 regarding corporate and business tax and its amendments, which entered into force on March 1, 2024, which specified the time periods within which each category of persons subject to corporate tax must submit registration applications. The Authority explained that pursuant to Cabinet Resolution No. (75) of 2023 regarding administrative fines for violations related to the implementation of Federal Decree-Law No. (47) of 2022 regarding corporate and business tax and its amendments, an administrative fine is applied to taxable persons who do not comply with submitting registration applications for corporate tax within the time periods specified in the Authority’s resolution in this regard.

The Authority indicated that its decision applies to the specified periods for submitting registration applications for those subject to corporate tax, including legal persons and natural persons (residents and non-residents), explaining that if a resident legal person is established, created or otherwise recognized before March 1, 2024, it must submit a registration application for corporate tax to the Authority, based on the month of issuance of the license, regardless of the year of issuance.

She explained that if the taxable person has more than one license on March 1, 2024, he must adopt the date of issuance of the earliest license, and if he has a license that expired on March 1, 2024, the maximum registration limit will depend on the month in which the license was issued.

The Federal Tax Authority reiterated that registration for corporate tax is available through the Emirates Tax digital tax services platform around the clock through four main steps that take about 30 minutes. The VAT or excise tax registrant can directly access his account through the Emirates Tax platform, then complete the corporate tax registration application and submit the required documents so that after approval of the registration application, he can obtain a tax registration number for corporate tax purposes.

It called on persons subject to corporate tax who have not yet registered to create a new user profile.
