Civil Aviation discusses readiness to face weather challenges in the winter season

Today, the General Civil Aviation Authority announced that it is organizing a workshop with a number of its strategic partners in the Emirate of Dubai, to discuss the challenges associated with fluctuations in weather conditions and exchange expertise and field experiences that contribute to enhancing preparedness to deal with any similar circumstances in the future.

The workshop comes within a series of workshops that the Authority plans to hold with all its partners in the emirates of the country, to ensure a high level of readiness to face various climatic conditions.

About 30 people from multiple entities participated in the workshop, which was organized by the Aviation Safety Affairs Sector at the General Civil Aviation Authority, including: Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Dubai Airports, Dubai Air Navigation Services Corporation (DANZ), Dubai Municipality, Dubai Police, and the Roads and Transport Authority. Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), and Flydubai.

The workshop focused in particular on the challenges related to dealing with difficult weather conditions, such as heavy rain, and discussed the importance of raising the level of preparedness to face these conditions efficiently to ensure smooth air traffic in the Emirate of Dubai, and the movement of passengers to, from and within the airport, in preparation for the winter season extending from November to Beginning of March.

His Excellency Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, said that organizing these workshops comes within the authority’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the sector’s ability to respond effectively to future challenges, and ensuring the continuity of air operations with the highest levels of safety and efficiency, even in the most difficult weather conditions.

He added that strengthening the bonds of cooperation between all concerned parties is essential to ensuring the speed and effectiveness of dealing with air emergencies, pointing out that these workshops represent an ideal platform for anticipating various possible scenarios and training crews to achieve the highest levels of preparedness and coordination, ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers and the smoothness of air navigation movement. In the country under any circumstances.

During the workshop, the challenges that may face aviation operations due to heavy rain were discussed, such as flight delays and passenger congestion. The workshop reviewed innovative solutions, including developing sanitation systems at airports, facilitating traffic leading to the airport, and enhancing early weather sensing techniques, in addition to Training ground and air crews to manage crises related to heavy rains.
