DEWA develops a smart application for fault management

The Research and Development Center of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has developed a smart application to automate the processes of selecting and dispatching field crews, with the aim of effectively managing alarms and troubleshooting faults on site.

The authority stated, in a statement, that the new digital solution relies on the Internet of Things (IoT) platform, which contributes to improving the efficiency of responding to faults and reducing response time to a minimum by automating the process of selecting and sending the specialized team to the fault site to ensure that the system is fully restored to its full operation. As quickly as possible.

In addition, the new solution includes the feature of generating real-time reports, including tabulated summaries and detailed records of the team that was dispatched, details of the failure and the actions taken to fix it.

In 2023, the percentage of losses in electricity transmission and distribution networks in Dubai reached 2%, compared to 6% and 7% in Europe and the United States, and the percentage of losses in water networks was 4.6%, compared to about 15% in North America. The Authority also achieved a new world record in the average outage.
