The Teachers Association revealed the details of the “Digital Weapon” initiative, which is the key to the safety of students, of all ages, in the educational field, from the dangers of the digital space in the age of technology and artificial intelligence, and assigned new roles to parents in the arts of education.

A member of the Board of Directors of the Teachers Association and Secretary General of the professional associations operating in the Emirates, Dr. Hessa Al-Tunaiji, told Emirates Today: “The digital space is a natural result of developments in technology, and the takeover of all aspects of life by artificial intelligence, and despite the positive aspects of these developments, they carry There are significant risks that society should be aware of, especially in the education community, where children, parents, and educators of generations live.”

She added that the family is the basis for building moral values ​​for children and adolescents, and here lies the challenge, as there is an urgent need to achieve a balance between education and children’s uses of technology in the digital age, to ensure the quality of digital life, and to preserve the safety of young people from the dangers of the digital world and cyber threats.

Urgent need

She stressed that families are in dire need of a “language” for real dialogue with children in the age of the digital space, and this will not be achieved unless parents are responsibly and consciously qualified, in accordance with successive technological developments and developments, and by enabling them to approach their children’s skills in using technologies.

She stated that the Digital Industry Initiative focuses on the educational field in its various categories, starting with the student, passing through the guardian and teacher, and reaching the school leadership, so that the education community works in one field and embodies digital knowledge with cohesive and interconnected arms, and achieves optimal investment in the advantages of digital world applications in all fields.

Lack of awareness

Al-Taniji summarized the dangers of lack of awareness of the ethics of dealing in the digital space in seven directions, accompanied by more than 29 dangers, including social life and including five dangers: electronic bullying, threats and blackmail, spreading lies, ridicule, and poor communication skills and communication with society.

She explained that there are four dangers facing educational life, including a delay in the level of academic achievement, weak ability to comprehend educational concepts and skills, isolationism, and neglect of education, adding that cultural life suffers from three dangers that include intellectual invasion, directing behavior towards aggression, and the absence of passion for self-learning.

Family cohesion

She said: “In healthy life, we find four main risks: obesity, high rates of electrical negativity in the brain, neglecting a regular diet, and eating fast food. On the other hand, psychological life faces four risks, including feelings of anxiety, fear and depression, autism, and self-harm.” She stressed that family cohesion is the most affected, as there are five risks that threaten it, including: the absence of family dialogue, weak forms of communication between relatives and relatives, isolation, weak religious faith, and tension in social relations, while life faces… There are four risks in sports, the most prominent of which are abstention from exercising, weak muscle flexibility and atrophy, focus on digital activity, and muscle and mental fatigue.

Al-Taniji told Emirates Today: “There are six strategies that families should apply to enhance the moral values ​​of children in the digital world, the most prominent of which is familiarity with the laws and legislation related to dealing in the digital space, directing children towards optimal investment in the content of social media channels, and educating children about digital piracy and blackmail.” Electronic communication and dealing with strangers.

She added: “Available artificial intelligence tools should be used to enhance moral values, and regulate the time periods spent using the digital space, in addition to using parental monitoring in a smart manner that does not invade their privacy, and enhances self-confidence by applying the method of dialogue and discussion.” She stressed the importance of encouraging children to pursue alternative activities. Such as participation in sports clubs, cultural and scientific centres, and volunteer work such as the “Student Crescent” in schools, in addition to the real participation of children to spare them from electronic addiction.
