“Dua” has raised the efficiency of electricity and water production 43.61% since 2006


The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority “Diwa” strengthened the efficiency of electricity and water production by 43.61% during the past year compared to 2006, equivalent to a total decrease in carbon dioxide emissions by a cumulative amount of 104 million tons between 2006 and 2024, and the equivalent of cultivating 527 million trees to absorb this amount of carbon dioxide emissions.

“This improvement in the efficiency of electricity and water production contributed to achieving the authority with great financial savings,” said Said Mohamed Al -Tayer, the chief executive of the authority, Saeed Mohamed El Tayer, confirming the support of the UAE’s follow -up path to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, and the implementation of the Dubai strategy to reduce carbon emissions to reduce carbon emissions by 50% at the end of 2030.

He added: «We are working to enhance Dubai’s world status in climate work by turning challenges into opportunities, and benefiting from the prospects for sustainable economic growth provided by climate work and improving the efficiency of electricity and water production.” He pointed out that the global leading body projects contribute to achieving the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, and the carbon neutrality strategy 2050 for the Emirate of Dubai to provide 100% of the production capacity of energy from clean energy sources by the year 2050.

For his part, the CEO of the President for the Production Sector “Energy and Water” in the authority, Eng. Nasser Lootah, said that “the authority attaches great importance to enhancing the efficiency of electricity and water production through the continuous innovation and development of production stations, in addition to adopting the latest technologies in all its facilities and projects, and is keen to develop operating procedures and maintenance operations continuously in order to improve efficiency.”
