“Dubai Humanitarian” transports 68.4 tons of aid to Gaza

Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, Dubai Humanitarian Transport transported 68.4 tons of urgent medical supplies, in response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, through the Egyptian Al-Arish Airport.

Yesterday, a Boeing 747 plane took off from Dubai carrying basic relief supplies from the World Health Organization’s stock. These supplies are expected to provide assistance to more than 600,000 people, meeting urgent medical needs and alleviating the suffering of those affected in the sector.

The Chairman of Dubai Humanitarian Board of Directors, Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, said: “We reaffirm our firm commitment to supporting those affected by the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The continuation of this air bridge, which began from the first moments of the crisis, embodies the highest meanings of sympathy and solidarity inspired by the directives of His Highness the Sheikh.” Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him. Our top priority remains ensuring that urgent aid reaches the targeted groups quickly. Let us give her help and hope in facing the exceptional circumstances she is going through.”

For his part, the representative of the World Health Organization in the occupied Palestinian territories, Dr. Richard Peppercorn, said: “The World Health Organization expresses its thanks for the generous support provided by the UAE and the United States Agency for International Development (BHA), for their major role in meeting urgent health needs.” In Gaza, the flight donated by the UAE carrying health supplies worth one million dollars, with support from the BHA, represents a model of cooperation in delivering aid in difficult times, as the shipment includes basic supplies to treat malnutrition, Trauma care, surgery, and primary health care, all of which are necessary to maintain health services amid the severe shortages that the Strip is suffering from. The shipment also contains tents to help increase hospital capacity and meet the increasing demand for health services in Gaza.”
